Is it worth to invest an expensive portable solar generator for camping?

In my mind, there is lots of good advice on here. My mind also tells me that if you are serious about this and going to buy one, there are numerous things to consider before purchase, as it can be a huge investment depending on your current and future needs. Just some of those things are: Is...

    Converted Xpedition Stove

I think that's pretty friggin cool. Good for you for rescuing it from the state it was in. It's getting more and more difficult to do that with modern day gear.

Carrying extra gasoline with Outback and teardrop

https://www.airframesalaska.com/Liquid-Containment-Bag-p/5.2bag.htm You might want to check out aviation grade fuel bags. They use them a lot in Alaskan bush planes, where lives literally depend upon the quality of their gear. I'm thinking that they must be pretty durable because they don't use...

Who Still uses cast iron while traveling?

I just picked up the Lodge 9" mini wok and lid. Perfect for meals for 1 or 2. Looking forward to using it when camping. EDIT: JSYK, the cast iron lid for the 2 qt dutch oven (without legs and without bail handle) DOES NOT fit the wok. 2 qt Dutch oven lid is 8.5" in diameter & the 9" wok lid is...

Who Still uses cast iron while traveling?

We just picked up the Lodge 17" 2 handle skillet. Loving it so far. I was actually surprised that it was so smooth. Only one handle has a sharp edge on the inside of it. I have sanded smooth all our other Lodge cast iron and it needed it. Great now though.

    12 volt slow cooker

Lol, I agree. But if certain people get what they want, you will soon be severely limited as to what you can use to heat up your food or cook your food. Where I live, for some reason unbeknownst to me, the people in charge think they have the moral authority to tell us what engine is in your...

Lid for off brand 10.25" cast iron skillet.

I bought the Lodge 17" dual handle skillet for Christmas and needed a lid. I went to a restaurant supply store and looked around. They had none but said they could order one but if it doesn't fit, it's still mine. I said no way. I kept looking. Found 18" round serving trays, made from aluminum...

Anyone making ice in a 12v freezer with basic dual battery setup?

When we first got our ARB Classics, I tried one out as a freezer. The day was 90° & the evening was around 75°. I had a bunch of 32 oz water bottles about 65% full. I had a drinks only cooler and rotated them every day. Didn't want the kids in & out of fridge all day long. Trying to preserve the...

    Induction stoves

Check out Webstaurant.com . They have what you need. Just make sure your electrical supply can handle one. They suck some wattage. I have been thinking about a 120v, 1800w one for us. Having a 2000/4000 pure sine wave inverter and dual battery should work but I am not sure about start up watts...

    My vacuum sealer journey

So, the LEM MAX VAC 1000 is still working awesome. Also just picked up the 500 max vac for my mother. Haven't used it yet but will soon. I have to show her how. Now she will be able to make batches of food, portion it and freeze it. It will save her time and food in the long run.

    Official outdoor rated refrigerators?

Still loving our ARB fridge/freezers. Absolutely worth their weight in gold when you need them. We have 2 of the classics, 82 qt and the 50 qt. I have not exposed them directly to the weather. Always been inside the truck, or the truck bed with an ARE overland cap, or in the house or garage...

[SOLD] 2008 Land Rover LR3 HSE, HD pkg. w/ Locking Diffs - $12,500 (Southern Oregon, USA)

Are the lockers factory or add on ? Just rear or front and rear ? Does the rear have to be engaged first before you can lock the front ? These things are important to some, not so much for others. Thanks for the clarification.

Is a RTT or ground tent better for my use?

All good information on here. A couple things that I think are worth mentioning are: wind & weather intrusion. I can't tell you how many times I've spoken to people with rtt's that bring up the wind. Unless you sleep "dead to the world", strong wind can make them flap so much, that sleeping...

    Bronco Portal Axle kits

Whether you like them or not, innovation is a good thing. That being said, I have watched many of their YouTube videos and they beat on them pretty hard. Also, it ticks some other boxes as well. Zero suspension mods, zero drivetrain issues, and no need for a lift. The price is pretty steep. But...

Portable battery and 12v outlet question

Lots of good advice on here. Don't skimp on wire size or quality. Use quality stuff throughout. To make my system more easily installed and removed from either vehicle, I made up 2 aux battery boxes, complete with screw in ARB 12v fridge plug receptacle on them. Do NOT try to use a regular 12v...

    Fridge only or fridge/freezer?

Lots of pros and cons to consider. For us, it was the height. We wanted to be able to bring fullsized milk jugs, coffee creamer, & wine. They fit upright in the ARB 5O & 82. They didn't seem like they would in the 37 or the 63. Dan Foss compressors seems to be the most liked for frugal power...
