Recent Customer service expereince with Autohome USA.

Had the dealership changed hands? about 4 years ago i had to deal with them for questions on my old Adventure model. They were fantastic and even recalled when they brought them in. They offered to send me the parts I needed. So my experience with them was good, but then I do not think they...

Bear safety in RTT's and soft sided campers/tents

I have backpacked in Grizzly country many times, long before packable bear proof containers were the norm (hell they were not even for sale). What we ALWAYS learned. 1. Always look for tracks. If there are a lot, find a better campsite, it may be a travel point for them. 2. If you do not have a...

Using a Tarp instead of an Awning

Lots of guide lines well anchored. and lower the tarp. I have had huge tarps backpacking, enough for 9 people to be comfortable under them in horrible storms and wind that dropped trees. . do an A frame and anchor it down. it will hold if done right.

Using a Tarp instead of an Awning

Tarps are fantastic, cheap and easy to use. Hell some sticks as poles work to. Years ago (and I mean years) i was backpacking with a group. we were in teams of two. Somehow one of us forgot the tent, but I had remembered the tarp. It was a very big tarp. so a quick lean to and a tarp cut in 1/2...

2007 F150 being updated for mild expedition trips

YEs that is exactly what I am not thinking. Setup some sort of slightly raised plywood floor (not to high like 1") then put the fridge on a rail, add a few bins on rails, the spare would be set on the floor behind the fridge and tied down. the Tonneau would be a rolling type this way I could...

2007 F150 being updated for mild expedition trips

I am trying to avoid the cap as it is an expense do not want. I really like the decked system, I only wish it left more bed height. Day to day though in the end,it,is a solid solution. For the trips though it leaves to much available to thieves. I still need at times if I take the rack off a...

2007 F150 being updated for mild expedition trips

The reason for some sort of secure tonneau was to have other things on the bed Exampe a cooler, fuel, maybe a fridge, stove etc. I have been thinking about the decked system, but then with all of that I have to have a cap.

    What to do?

This is SO true. FJCruiser (bumper, Winch, Rack, RTT, Rear bumper gear etc. the Engine ran like it was going to explode, 11 MPG average. Slowed down on hills on the freeway and could not use cruise control (shifted to much) FJ60 Bumpers, winch, RTT rack, gear etc. Forget it, 3rd gear is your...

    What to do?

I guess the biggest question is where can you not get with that 10%. Here was my dilemma. I currently have a 1986 FJ60 in my garage. All built up and ready to go. It rides like a old FJ60. So that is out for me and it will have a new home soon. I looked at seelling mjy F150 to do exactly what...

A year with the 2015 Ram Power Wagon

Nope My 2007 F150 averages 11-13 MPG I drive highway and city. It is a pig and the long range tank comes in handy. IT was a custom order from the factory by the PO so i have found out and has a number of features not available off the lot. Towing I would be lucky to get 7-10. My old F350 early...

    What to do?

I have a 2007 F150 Crewcab and my next ride will either be the new Bronco (if it actually comes out) but most likely a full size 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I am in the process of fixing my F150 up for trail use the way I know. I grew up in the middle part of BC Canada, where forestry service roads...
