how to design a water system that is operational below freezing

Trestle's response lays it out very well. My version of "option B": Over a span of several types of camping vehicles and winter misadventures (van, pop-up trailer, trailer, motorhome, truck camper) in which they all had a plastic water tank & 12 volt pump water systems I tried various...

Will the New USSC Gun Rights Decision Change How, When, If You Carry a Firearm in Your Rig?

Of course you still have the crazy quilt state and local laws about hollow point bullets and magazine capacity …most of which can win you a felony charge.

Four Wheel Camper - A Review

A happy anniversary: one year owning my rig with a FWC Hawk. Have 45+ nights in it…good weather, bad weather, in hot and cold. Love it. This thread helped my decision process. Thanks to the OP and the other contributors. Among the many options in the general theme of "truck campers" I will...

    Camper jacks when camping

Leave at home. Excess weight. Easy to catch on brush, limbs, or other obstructions on tight trails. Never had a need to remove camper when on a trip.

Cool n '22: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire & the Thousand Islands of NY.

Part 4: Enjoying the Thousand Islands & “The River”. For many years my family and I have enjoyed spending occasional summer season time in the Thousand Island area of upstate New York. The escape from the heat and humidity of Virginia is a treat, as is the wonderful scenery, the small towns...

Cool n '22: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire & the Thousand Islands of NY.

Screw Auger Falls, N. Oxford, ME.: Humm...what am I missing? The essential kit will include some bug spray: Stunning wildflowers in this area: Success Pond Road, near Berlin NH: 2 day stops I deemed "fly worthy": Fine eating; pan seared salmon with herbs and local sweet corn...

Cool n '22: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire & the Thousand Islands of NY.

Part 3: Leaving coastal Maine and exploring westward. Having thoroughly enjoyed the time spent along the coastal areas of southern and mid Maine it was time to head west and explore the more rural, forested and mountain areas that lie in the interior of Maine and stretch through northern...

Cool n '22: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire & the Thousand Islands of NY.

Part 2: Coastal Maine Re-discovered. Coming from Cape Cod we entered Maine on Rt95 and then sought a slower pace on Rt1 as we continued north. After cruising down memory lane a few miles and passing through Ogunquit, Wells, and Kennebunk we decided to grab our first official MAINE lobster...

Cool n '22: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire & the Thousand Islands of NY.

The hot and muggy dog days of August in Northern Virginia had me dreaming of cooler areas up North. Time had come to do some vehicle based roaming & exploring and enjoy vast forested areas, logging roads, cool clear rivers and of course Lobster Rolls! The basic plan would be a loop routing up...

3 Weeks in Baja – Surfing, SUPing and Dirt Roading

Very nice rig and your video production is really well done. One thought is to check your propane tank mounting …most portable tanks should be stored and used vertically. Safe travels!

Simple rims for modern full size trucks?

My 2005 Ram 3500 has what I think are the OEM steel wheels. Thoughts: Weight... Rig scales at 10K fully loaded. Not much use trying to save some weight on the wheels. Price: the purchase of some aftermarket aluminum wheels, mounting, balance and the rest would likely run me around $1200...

    Portable AM/FM/Shortwave/NOAA/Air band Radio.

Over the years I've always liked to bring along a portable AM/FM radio on my travels. Hammock hanging or tenting off a motorcycle or roaming around in a van or RV having a source of news & music that was not based on having cellular service and/or power from a vehicle often filled a need during...

1: Boquillas dessert was "Sopapillas". Fried dough typically coated with cinnamon sugar and honey, sometimes augmented by ice cream or fruit. A real treat for sure. 2: You are visiting BBNP during spring break. The main herd of folks stick to the well-trod path. As your plans and vehicle...

I recently did BBNP and Old Maverick Road in late January 2022. Your Honda would be capable of doing MOST of Old Maverick Road without difficulty. There are some spots as I recall where you will have to pick your line very carefully if you can get by at all. At all times be cautious as one...
