Great to read/see what some of the ole' farts have been up to lately. Appears to have been a terrific time exploring the back country "at home".
Personally, I went the way of the faint and weak hearted and opted for the sand and surf of the Pacific via the Big Island while your...
Add some
I've added several additional holes to each side of the ladder. Mine is mounted on an off-road trailer and depending upon the terrain an where I have the frame holding the RTT adjusted to, I needed several options.
Go for it.... Add a couple to suit your comfort level relative to...
Wonderfully entertaining
Slowlane,
Evidence of your talents, (mechanical, photographic, and writing) abound in this essay. Those skills are certainly not something found in abundance singularly yet you possess them all in enviable quantities. Hats off to you sir.
I have but one question...
LOL . . . Wait! First the government regulations took away the drinking and driving. Now they are going to take away the drinking and posting? is this a Cali-only thing???
Good golly, where will our on-line amusement come from in the future? :hehe:
Let's not be so divisive online...
As others have said, an awesome build. You have some unique talents with steel and it is to be admired. The suspension geometry , etc. is very impressive. Looking forward to seeing the GoPro record the action from the underside perspective....
I don't believe that gold nut is safe as it is too shallow (not enough depth or "height") to have a substantial bite on the bolt threads. I personally would not use it.
In the last six years I've spent close to $10K shedding a variety of vehicles with new rubber. The largest being 38x15.50X18's (Toyo ATs) I am best friends with my Discount Tire mgr! (JK) IMO if you can afford them the Toyo's are some of the longest wearing, best riding and wheeling options...
Agree completely... I have no argument with your points. The disdain is for the media and their "XXX of the year" B.S. The market research budget that goes in to a new product by a Fortune 500 entity would keep most all of us very very comfortable for the rest of our lives. There is no...
"Republicans were sneaky" ?
"Republicans were sneaky" ?
Sheet! The last time I spoke to a Republican who was from CA Reagan was still in office. As governor!
The Republicans have no where near a majority in CA, so how are they pushing any epic tax, fuel or otherwise...

Yes, I do miss the basecamp. Sold it too soon. . . (long story, went to a good home in MO if I recall correctly -too many mind-altering drugs at the time; I just recall this big, burly guy (may of had a beard at the time), coming in to my bedroom, handing me a wade of bills and saying...
Having owned and regrettably having sold a Conqueror Basecamp, I can appreciate Dendy's love of his prized Commander.
At the risk of starting a flaming war, I have to ask the following -
In today's world, when someone has that kind of discretionary spending money, are they purchasing used...
Beautiful work
Just recently found this thread. Excellent work on the trailer and I must admit that I love the idea of the plugs and wiring for the RTT. Will be doing this mod to my own.
Thanks for the great write ups...
[edit]
Oh wow! Just got to the end of the thread a see that you've...
