The carrier that I used had an F150, an Escalade, one Compact and one base camp on a 4-car trailer. Dendy's correct, with the way they were loaded and due to the "angle" of the bed on the shipping company's trailer, they should be able to easily get 6 Conquerors on, even if they were all base...
I continue to be impressed with the overall engineering of this unit. It's often little things but from my perspective, when the little things get attention too, its that kind of production detail that gives the consumer a much better level of satisfaction, appreciation, and obviously happiness...
Thanks Dendy - have mine out "sunning" now. Understand I should do it 2-3 times, yes? (its cool out today, so I am hoping the drying times between hose downs doesn't take too long)
IMHO, its no different setting up the base camp tent than it is setting up any "shock-corded" tent. I especially like the overall room-i-ness (if one can say that about a this size tent). The Eezi-Awn and the likes sacrifice size for ease of setup from my perspective. I've been camping for...
mfreeman17,
Been lurking on this thread (been following all the threads I see about the Conquerors; I recently acquired the base camp.)
Ran outside and just took these photos of the trailer with both tents deployed. Maybe this may help with your decision as to the size needed...
I was just reading another thread this evening about the issues of living in TX and finding decent (meaning a lack of asphalt) back roads to get from point A to B. . . it occurred to me the biggest issue I have is the dang distance between borders living here (most of the state is privately...
Its finally here
Took possession of the Conqueror today
(how sweet it is!)
Ended up going with a shipping company as opposed to driving east to get it (seems someone in L.A. purchased a Compact and Dean let me in on the name / number shipper hauling the Compact out west).
What a terrific...
The amount of individual knowledge continues to amaze me on this site. . .
I also made the leap concerning a Conqueror. (Down payment earlier this week; delivery Saturday). Obviously price played into this decision and shame on anyone who failed to conduct a review / assure due diligence on...
I have been doing as much research as I can possibly locate on the Conqueror and after reading the first 3.5 pages of this thread I was beginning to get worried. . . . and then I finally saw this . . .
"Dean emailed me that he's going to repack the bearings prior to all future sales of his...
Suby Forester :hehe:
too funny (your sense of humor ThomD, not the vehicle)
The yard's big enough for a at least a few trailers - 3/4 ac. and plenty of the 'que here as well as some great tex-mex.

Hey guys,
I've been lurking for a while and am finally trigger. The family is about two weeks away from taking posession of a new base camp, curtesy of Dean @ Jurassic. :wings:
We're in Fort Worth, TX and depending on work (out of town, etc.), I woud love to try and join you guys...
Correct on the question. The battery is in on the drivers front side of the engine bay (the radiator overflow is seen in the pictures on the passenger front side for comparison).
Great idea / concept! I also first thought you were going the way of "goodbye OEM bed, hello custom flatbed"... I never thought of using the U-Haul as the basis of "the box" which all other stuf is designed around. Can I ask how you happened to come upon this box; my searching hasn't...
