    Aux water or fuel tank?

I am planning on putting an auxilliary tank underneath my 80 series. It is either going to be water or fuel. If fuel, I don't plan at this time to plumb in a dual filler neck to to time complexity and neck availability. I can very reasonably do a water tank which I think I'd like, but I've...

For any Ham 70cm (UHF) doubters...

For those condiering Ham 70cm (UHF) ... ...I just want to report that there is an excellent Grand Canyon public repeater on UHF that allows communication nearly throughout the whole park, yet unfotunately no 2m repeaters. Just an FYI to any of those looking to go or not go UHF on their Ham rigs...

    Toroweap - 29-30 Jul 06

Well, I'm waiting to hear a yes/no from one other person for a possible but not probable trip this weekend to Toroweap this weekend. It appears as though this weekend may actually be relatively cool in the high 70s lower 80s! Couple of questions: a. What is the quickest way there from PHX...

So how bad are these `coolers'?

Coleman 12v ones: I have no intentions of purpose but came across this over the web today. Supposedly 40 quarts. Somehow I doubt they are the quality and utility of like an Engel fridge.

Fridge between 1st and 2nd row seats?

Is there a fridge that will fit in between the 1st and 2nd row seats for an LC80? There's simply no way I'll be able to give up the space in the rear bed area...

2M/Ham radio, get yours before the Trophy Okay, I'm motivated again to teach some more folks about Ham/Amateur radio (yes this includes your popular 2m) and my youngest is now old enough for me to start getting out a little more. Sorry about the indefinete delay in late 2005. Radio...

1600 Eezi-Awn for the Family? Honestly.

Do you feel that the 1600 would be too small for 2 adults and 2 children? I'd love an Eezi-Awn RTT, but I just don't see it being large enough?

    12v or 24v winch?

Would you buy a 12v or 24v winch if you had the option of 24v? I have dual 12v systems that could I guess be diconnected in parallel and placed in series during winching use.

    Border destruction concerns.

AZ & CA have ordered Nat'l Guard to the borders to assist in road building, infrastructure, etc. The politics that is missing here is won't the great border build-out severely impact the pristine desert broder land? I was dismayed even in January how unremote the Camino Del Diablo now is due...

Why CRD Liberty no manual tranny?

My wife and I late last year were REALLY debating getting a Jeep Liberty CRD but the only option was an auto tranny. Does anyone know why Jeep decided to not mate a manual tranny as an option? It seems those who would purchase the CRD option would be more functional folks anyway not looking...

    Dodge Nitro (Nito)

Just looked at http://dodge.com and there is a midsize SUV with part-time 4WD and 6 speed manual. Hmmm, making an H3 power play? Wonder what it'll be like in person.

    Raft or Dory?

For the longest time, I kept looking for a true 2-man sit-on-top sea kayak. But with the expanded family now I am now torn between: Dory Raft The eventual plans are simple family (4) float trips, not heavy whitewater. Can anyone comment on pros/cons on each?

Are US Rover lovers mad like Toyota lovers?

I'm curious if Land/Range Rover lovers are upset at the current product offerings of the company in the US market? I am, yes, an old Toyota fan and dismayed at the products that are coming out of Toyota today. The dumming-down of our rigs to the US market has been happening for a while now...

    Electric or Hydraulic winch?

If I could reasonably get a PTO winch I would. In it's stead I have the option of electric or hydraulic. Can anyone comment why I wouldn't want to go the hydraulic route? As with a PTO, I don't generally expect to have a stopped engine during winching procedures.

    ARB | Toyota elocker?

Yeah, which one would you do? I am finally planning on locking the rear of my 80. Yes, my 80 is unlocked, in fact other than my `new' UZJ100, I have never owned a locked 4WD and I've previously owned two FJ40s, one FJ55, one FJ60, & an FZJ80, and I have done my share of serious wheeling...

3FJ40 going up for sale soon.

I don't know if anyone here is interested, but I will soon be placing my 1978 FJ40 with a 1989 3F-E Toyota (injected) engine for sale. It just is not going to support any longer a family of 4 for travel, and we now have a UZJ100 to keep the legends alive. If anyone happens to be interested, it...

    White Rim May 2-3 2006

Okay, looks like I'm eating my own hat and stating I MAY actually be in Moab for CM (though not a formal participant). As such, anyone interested in doing White Rim May 2/3?

    Split Rims? Why not?

I have an opportunity to acquire some split rims. I'm not trying to obtain these for the sake of having split rims themselves, but rather they would be an OEM solution to getting a narrower wheel & tire on my vehicle. Is running inner tubes such a PITA it isn't worth it? What are the up/down...

    Outback sleeping pads.

Wanted to let everyone know that I had my first opportunity on our recent El Camino Del Diablo trip to try out the Outback Sleeping Pad. One word = amazing. The other 3 in our crew often complained about bumpy/rocky nights but I never felt a thing. That pad is so awesome thick that it's...
