    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Thanks! The ARB bumper was for a big Land Cruiser. I worked with the owner of Liquid Iron Industries and we created mounts on his CNC. Fit was perfect with his mounts...I highly recommend giving him a call b/c I know he saved the specs and we specs hours figuring it out. When I get back from...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

It's been awhile since I've had wifi access, but I'm hoping to put some big updates together for the last 1.5wk of traveling we did. Some highlights: -We parked/camped on the RIM of the Grand Canyon for three days and wheeled/hiked each day (amazing)...check out "Crazy Jug" on the north rim and...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

This rig is a GREAT platform for overlanding within the US/Canada....for this trip we're close to 4k miles and I haven't come across terrain I was not able to handle (within reason of course). It's a very comfortable cruiser and overall I'm really excited about how it turned out. A photo to...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Some really good news and updates! We left NJ @ 4am on the 15th and drove like mad to reach Flagstaff AZ by the 17th...and we made it. We first camped out in St Louis, then in New Mexico. The first leg was really long...we stopped around 2:30am local time as neither of us were in any...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Thanks Chris! Some toys came in this week! I called up Viking Offroad a few weeks ago and was lucky enough to grab the owner. I had lots of questions b/c I was still pretty weak on my recovery gear and wasn't sure what to go with. We had a long discussion for the type of rig I had and what I...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Ok, tons of photos folks! Here is the new stance of the rig! 4.5" lifted in the rear (springs, no blocks) and ~5" lift up front. IMHO this stance looks awesome and with a 35" tire, it would look incredible (i have 33's on) Once the ARB bumper is on with the Superwinch, I'm guessing it will...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Some BIG updates this week. Yesterday I received my package from Viking Offroad - photos to follow tomorrow! This is the highest quality recovery gear I have ever seen, I'm blown away from the fit & finish so far of everything. This gear is our lifeline for when we need recovery, so i will...

Samlex Pure Sine Inverter - question

It seems this is a popular unit so I thought I'd concentrate on this one...any reasons not to purchase from this manuf? My question - difference between there PST & SSW model? http://www.amazon.com/Samlex-PST-12A-DC-AC-Inverter/dp/B003FWNWN2/ref=pd_luc_sbs_01_01_t_lh...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

some more progress over the past few days... The Bilstein 5150's with their heavier valving were simply not valved heavy enough for this rig. So I went with application specific 5100's (they're for lifted rigs) and they are awesome. I had them on the highway today and they absorbed bumps...

    Chevy Hydroboost Conversion

High side filter is adventurous...i haven't seen that done yet, but if you know how to rebuild them, go for it! My guess is the current filters on the market may have a tough time dealing with that kind of pressure. Any idea what pressure is in the cooler lines on trans? (maybe an inline trans...

    Trailer - Light Charging Wire

I have three batteries in my entire setup - two in the truck that have a isolator between them and one in the trailer. My second battery in the truck is exclusively for accessories (lights, fridge, etc). In terms of wiring in my trailer, should I also run an isolator between the second truck...

    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Yes, the 3/4t bars are stiffer. The best part about tbars is that if the extra weight starts sagging your front end, you can simply crank them to stiffen them up...this of course is within reason as they will eventually start to sag again, but it may not be for awhile. In your setup, it sounds...

    Trailer - Light Charging Wire

some really good intel everyone, thank you for chiming in! I'm definitely going to investigate the Toad and look how I can run a larger gauge power wire. With how cheap wire is, it would be nice if OEM and the folks that make trailer connectors just moved up a size or two in gauge.
