It seems this is a popular unit so I thought I'd concentrate on this one...any reasons not to purchase from this manuf?

I have a question regarding the power handling capabilities of my 7 pin connector.
My trailer holds a Sears Platinum Marine (AGM) battery and the truck has a 220amp alternator. When I look at how small the power wire is on the 7 pin, I'm terrified it's going to melt when I hook everything up...
I've gone through numerous threads and found some great ideas...but I'm keeping mine really simply.
I just purchase an Eccontemp and i'd like to run a water pump directly from my Jerry cans to it...any recommended 12v for it?
I'm also looking for a manual pump i can throw in the can to...
Supposedly the Die Hard Platinums have a design flaw in their side terminals....they are prone to breaking internally and then the battery is garbage.
With that in mind, I was thinking of purchasing the marine version (x1 for my truck, x1 for the trailer) as they have dual posts...but all on...
for anyone interested, here are the part #'s from my install!
I have a '99 Tahoe and this system was mocked from a '99 Suburban w/6.5l diesel. The PS cooler is from a 1ton diesel pickup.
Part #'s:
Power Steering Return Hose - AC Delco 36-368640
Power Steering Pressure Hose - AC Delco...
I have a near brand new set (100miles) of Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on Allied Steel Rock rims...tires were mounted professionally and tubed.
There are x5 tires all together, mounted/balanced and ready to go - this set is amazing!
All-in (shipping, mounting/balancing, etc) the setup retails...
I saw a bit of info on here dating back to early '11 regarding this unit - for those that purchased, happy with the decision? Is there another route you would have gone?
I have a 220amp alt so the 500a continuous is really nice for me...plus i like the remote & manual switch.
Thanks!
Anyone using these radios? Opinions/recommendations?
The gentleman that ownes the local radio store recommended these for my first set of radios stating they were reliable, good quality and easy to use for beginners.
i would be using these for my across the US trip.
After quite some time planning and the last two months underneath the truck, we're finally getting close to finishing up our expedition build.
I've learned tons of information on this site, so I thought I would share what I'm up to with you guys!
Leaving towards the end of March, we are...
Not sure if this is the right section...but technically i do store gas in my jerry cans. :)
Overall:
Just picked up a trailer that came with x10 jerry cans (x4 fuel + x6 water)...the gas cans are 10yrs old and were actively used, the water cans are also 10yrs and have never been used...
I was fortunate enough to find a 4x4 Limited Trailer on the east coast...and only 45min away!!
This trailer appears to be in incredible condition and per the current owner (who it was built for), the trailer was never used. This trailer sat in a warehouse for about 10yrs and all the electrical...
It seems the Tekonsha line is pretty popular.
The Primus IQ is $78
The P3 is $128
Is there a benefit to one over the other?
My trailer is going to weigh at most 2klb when fully loaded.
Also, this is my first trailer so I'm still in research phase. What type of wire do I purchase to connect...
I'm in the process of designing my electrical system and was wondering what is "better", dual alts or one big one?
Some things I'm thinking about:
-Will two alternators running the same combined amperage as one big (i.e. 220amp+) alternator cause more or less strain on the engine? More strain...
Any recommendations for an expo trailer <$7k that is good for x2 ppl, can take a beating and will be good in conditions from subzero to blazing heat? This trailer will need to have a suspension and small enough that it will not become too much of a pain on the trails.
We're going on a 6mo expo...
This is for my '99 Tahoe which spends most of it's life on the highway...however, it is going on a 6month expo throughout the US.
I'm swapping in a 14bsf and was between the Tru-Trac and full Detroit...ARB seems to be too problem prone for me.
What do you guys think??
I'm currently in the midst of building my expedition rig, a '99 4dr 4x4 OBS Tahoe in great condition.
I've done tons of research on IFS v SAS and i'm sticking with IFS! I believe with the right parts and most importantly, careful driving...i can make this truck into an awesome overlander...
