Over the weekend:
1) checked the bearings and repacked them, for now. Will be replacing axle and hubs this Winter.
2) tack welded a loose wheel stud
3) installed both 35s
4) installed 6x8 22oz black tarp. Ordered a 5x7; 6x8 is a little too big for the tub, but worth having for larger loads...
I apologize as well for firing back. Thank's for speaking up. Good luck with your sale; ************ TJ and trailer. Van is a beast and will take you places.
Happy Highway and Trail!!
I'm just starting out in the overland/expedition mindset. In the process of lowering my very capable JK 2.5", keeping the 40s. She drives better than stock and navigates trails, fireroads and crawling sections like a champ. I don't want to completely lose that aspect.
The trailer is a good...
Measured her: plans this weekend to remove 2.5" BB spacers, leaving 4" coils on the 40s. Should be nice to get veteran of gravity down some. Starting to modify the Jeep to more expedition-friendly form.
Sold my Rock-Slide Engineering tailgate table recently.
Installed Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Cover last night. Good product; crappy hardware. Ended-up using some quality self-tapping screws from another project.
That is far more productive than being a TOOL; giving "2 cents" taxed or flaming someone's build, when you don't even own the same model JEEP. I stopped posting on Pirate to get away from trolls; guess they are everywhere on the forums.
The thin tube is the only issue with the new 44s. That is why they get sleeved, gusseted, trussed and RCVs (just for extra guarantee). A wider axle and general OEM cheapness made it this way.
Keys points are: wheel to your capabilities and build level. Be smart to get home each time. If you wheel 3+ hours from the closest pavement and or cell signal, be confident. I am very.
The idea that dropping to 35s from 37s to make things more challenging is interesting. We should just...
It's going to be a slow build since I am lacking a garage and shop, but it will get done.
Test fitted a set of 35 BFGs. Will be adding a little more fender clearance once the whole trailer is sandblasted and modifications begin.
New vs. what was on there
Viper TB, Airaid, Trinity Diablosport Tuner (ABSOLUTELY AWESOME tuner), Gibson exhaust. I think that is it. 12-13 in the city, 14-16 highway. Don't feel any real power loss; runs close to stock.
Stock 44s; RCVs, sleeved, gusseted, Rock Krawler front axle truss, 5.13s. No issues. Also, I am far from a rock crawler. But she made easy work of Rubicon last Summer. ;)
