I had a method I used for wet ---- I'd erect the "Big Top", a huge 20' x 20' tarp that was gusseted to fit over my RTT-type tent perfectly (thank you, Mr Conqueror), an then open the tent under that. But, even with that, and tearing it down under the Big Top, I'd still need to wipe down...
I know your weather. I'm in north Georgia but was in south Florida for 20 years. Just like Louisiana but without the good music.
There was always rain. Always wet canvas. So that means you set up your tent, camp, go home, set up your tent again to dry out.
I'm just trying to help you think...
I'm still 6'5" ----- you have to stretch, Jim.
I "tried on" a JLU Sport and a Rubicon. I even got salespeople involved. Tried the seat and steering wheel every which way.
Pissed me off --- I was looking forward to getting a JLU diesel eventually. I've got 104,000 miles on my JKU now.
You ordered a JL?
I thought you're tall? I can't drive a JL without hitting my head. The dang seat doesn't go down enough or the bar is too close or something.
Pisses me off....
I know lots of people with Kodiac tents. http://www.kodiakcanvas.com/tents/
...seems like quite a few have moved on to a teardrop or Adventure Trailer (or knockoff of an AT).
After 40 years of tenting I'm in a teardrop. Hard sides, no wet canvas.
4 or 5 gallons for us.
Get wet, get soapy, get rinsed, get out.
If we're on a roadtrip we try to hit a pay campground every so often for a luxury shower.
Bu, like you said, water is a precious commodity in the boonies. Heavy, precious, necessary.
@RememberTheFallen had a bit of a standoff with a big black bear near Graveyard Fields (off the BRP) a couple of years ago ----- trying to get his tree-hung food. Maybe he'll chime in but I seem to remember him saying the bear kept him awake and on guard. I'm sure Alaina didn't appreciate it...
I've been using one of these for past 10 years and it works just fine for us. Not fancy or pretty though.

Whatever they get by the boatload.
I'm a 14 wide ----- I've found they sell socks that fit poorly and socks that fit worse. Usually just two sizes, a men's and a ladies'. My wife likes them though.
I highlighted what I was going to add. They're terrible in the mud we get on the East coast. The clay clogs them up something crazy.
They were fine for me in Western mud though.
Duratracs don't have enough sidewall stoutness if he ventures into those granite hills around him too; too many...
I'm more leg than torso/arm so I have to have the seat back enough for my knees to clear the steering wheel and still have to be close enough to reach the wheel. If the wheel telescoped I might be able to recline more. But, the way it is, I can't drive a JL and I'm pissed off about it...
I...
You could wire in one dimmer but you'd need it to be one that can handle that much wattage.
I don't think it would get along with your S-pod though.
They have sliding ones, dial ones, electronic. I use a mess of them at home for my lighting. I've got PWM types, rheostats, I even have one...
Cool project!
Pick a circuit and wire in a rheostat; I'd pick the lowbeam (driving). https://www.amazon.com/Volt-Dimmer-LED-Halogen-Incandescent/dp/B01C4UBMY6/ref=sr_1_4/136-4860156-2012363?ie=UTF8&qid=1526394186&sr=8-4&keywords=12+v+dimmer+switch
You could give Ray or Dave a call and see if...
