Looks great. I have a question though.... is the extension stable enough to crawl on to get into bed, or do you get in, then place the extension in place? It seems if a person tried to crawl on it, it would flip backward. I've been thinking of doing something like this, but was afraid my wife...

Yep indiedog, I was referring to the rails that come with the tent, and bolting them thru the lid and the plywood under it. I agree having them go side to side. I appreciate everyone's help! I don't have the luxury of looking at a RTT tent in person. The town I live in doesn't have any stores...

Hi, just to follow up.... I spoke to the builder and explained my plan of adding 3/4" plywood to the interior cargo dividers and adding 3/4" plywood to the underside of the lid. The plywood attached to the cargo dividers becomes two bearing walls supporting the lid. He thought it would be fine...

I'm at the point I need a little help on which RTT to get. It will be mounted on the reinforced lid of a Tentrax trailer. Intended uses..... Southern Utah - everything from mountains (in the summer) to desert (in the winter). Realistically probably 6-8 one or two night trips/year as my wife...
