Sounds like a good score.
I have pulled a 40' fifth wheel in fifth gear when I had mine with no problems with the tranny.
I miss that truck.
If either of you want to ditch the visor let me know I have been looking for one.

i dont know why you would want to run your coupler that way. you flip that hitch over and you might loose 1" but it would be safer to use. i agree with the fact that the way you are using it now puts all the weight on the threads and puts safty at risk. you say you drive safe but then you do...
ive never had any problems pulling with an auto. i have been pulling a 3 car wedge trailer 53' for over 10 years now. i use a 1 ton ford with 7.3L powerstroke the truck my company has me in now has 150,000 miles on original trans. the 3 trucks before this one all ran to 250,000-300,000 miles...
i have been looking into this camper my self so thanks for the information. cool pics.
may i ask what was wrong with the truck when you looked at it.
i must say that i am not sure about how the toung is made thats the only thing that im not sure about.
if i may ask what company made that the trailers in this thread? and are they still in busniess? web site? i like the looks of the trailers and have finally convinced my wife to go back to a tent and some form of trailer like this.
