Same thing happened on my Sport. Except mine decided to shatter when I randomly engaged 4wd while moving on a gravel road. I pulled it, cleaned out the shards and never replaced it since you have to buy the whole assembly from the dealer. They don't sell the bushing by itself. What did you pay...
Another good suggestion. Should be able to find a 3.5 with LSD in that price range with fairly low miles. What kind of mileage are you getting in yours? I get between 17-18 consistently in mine but that's about 90% highway.
How many of you are running the 235/85/16? I am considering trying them as my next tire on my Montero Sport. Would love to see pics and hear your thoughts on them.
Hey, no problem man. I appreciate you even considering doing it for me lol. We all know how it is to have questions about a certain vehicle you have no access to though.
I can't imagine it's a coincidence that this happened while it was on loan to a group of 17 year olds? And then you sent him another truck? You're a better man than me.
If I had that budget, it would be between a Montero and a Trooper for me. The Montero can be had with a rear locker from the factory and will fit a 33x10.50 tire which is the biggest tire you will need.
You would be better off starting a new thread BUT I happen to believe the 265/75/16 is the best all around tire on the Trooper. Lifted or not. Look into old man EMU for the lift.
Glad to hear you're still loving the tires. I have the Cooper A/T3's now and while I like them, I will probably try out the S/T Maxx next time around in the same 235/85 you have. I saw you mentioned them weighing 45 lbs. I haven't been able to find that number anywhere. Did you get that weight...
That would be appreciated. Surely you're curious yourself :)
I have exactly 9'' under the diff on my Montero Sport with 265's and it's never been a limiting factor so I guess it really wouldn't be that big of a deal.
Tirerack lists the stock tire for a 1999 Montero as a 265/70/15 which...
I've been contemplating selling my Montero Sport and moving into a full size Montero. I started searching online just to get an idea of physical dimensions, compare fuel tank sizes etc. and kept coming up with 7.5'' as the ground clearance for a 1999 Montero. That can't be right can it? Does...
Have you used a multimeter to test the alternator? If you put it on the battery terminals when then engine is running, you should see between 13.8-14.2 volts or real close. If you see it dipping when the disco starts, I would say it is your alternator as well. I'm not sure what kind you put on...
Main reason for the coils is to cure the squatty rear end. It's fine with no load but with even one passenger in the front and one in the rear, I bottom out going over most bumps or railroad tracks. I can't put a load in it at all without it getting pretty squatty.
I also wanted to move up a...
I've heard from multiple people (with various vehicles) that the OME shocks do not last as long as they had expected. If they can't last more than 20K miles or so at their premium price, I would rather try something else out. Thinking maybe Bilstein but I'm not sure. Just looking for...
Hey guys. I'd like to pick your brains a little on the subject of shocks. I have a 2001 Montero Sport that is stock height right now so I am looking for something that will work at stock height but also work when I add the OME rear coils in the near future (within 6 months). I don't mind a firm...
