Thanks for the quick replies. I have gained something from each and will do research on all of the boats mentioned. I'd like to clear up my location and plans.
For the next 5 or so years I will be confined to local lakes within a couple of hours of me. I'd like to use that time to learn the...
For the past few years I have been drawn to sailing. Somehow, I have gotten old enough where I can see retirement as a real option ( a few years down the road). I would like to spend some time before that point learning the basics of sailing so when I do retire I might could have the option to...
My son and I both run Giants. The little one runs a Cannondale.
We’ve used several setups. Currently running a Kuat rack that I got for dirt cheap because it had been wrecked. $40 in parts from Kuat and it’s back to 100%. 🤞🏻. This works great on the Subaru Outback.
Other methods have been a...
Awesome ride, love the color and the roof setup.
I am looking hard at an OBW for my next DD and adventure rig. It appears to be just about the perfect vehicle to perform those two roles. Thanks for sharing!
Thinning out the gear closet.
Up for grabs:
V1 Umlindi setup. Includes:
Original and upgraded frame sheet
Belt and two bottle holsters
Line pocket.
Photos show two small tears in the bottom of the pack. Do not affect function and have not grown. Easily fixable. Overall pack is in used but good...
I read up on this issue. I'm no expert by any means but supposedly in the latest generation the belt is good for 200k miles. Warranty on that drive train will at least cover you for 100k miles.
It's the only option that makes sense for me right now. The way I look at it the truck is worth ~$3500 as it sits. I think I can put the money in to fix it (let's say $10k) and sell it for $13,500. So either way it's worth $3500. Hopefully, I can get it fixed and drive it for a year or more...
That's the question I have been noodling all day. I think the truck is probably worth around $3500 in current condition. That is not enough trade-in to put the TB in my (comfortable) price range. My current plan (subject to change, ask my wife) is to put a new engine in it and drive it until...
162k. Typical cam and lifter issues that the internet says the Rams are prone to. Mechanic said he hoped it was just top end but there is metal in the oil pan and he said exactly what you just said. For the cost of the parts we can put a full replacement in it.
I didn’t see the turbo 4 on the...
Ugh. Just got word from the mechanic shop. Engine in my Ram 1500 is toast. Life (timing) sure is funny (haha, right?!?) sometimes. I guess I am going to get it fixed. I don't think I can afford not to.
I've got the 5.3 in a Suburban with just over 100k miles on it. Runs great in that...
Back to that “winning the lotto” comment. I’d be glad to donate when I hit it! 😎
On paper I think they are awesome. Lots of torque and HP. However, I have two friend that have them in Tahoe’s. Both have had lifter issues and high dollar repairs.
I do care. Need to look at things from that...
Quick update. I went and drove a Trail Boss 3.0L Duramax and all I can say is wow. Very impressive ride quality. Drivetrain is very smooth and the truck handles well. However... The deal wasn't good enough to make it an easy decision so I left it there, needing to think... Fast forward to...
Ahhh..... Can I just win the lottery and buy a vehicle for each use case??? I'm going to take a hard look at the HD trucks and see what the cost difference is going to be.
OP lives in Texas, if that matters. I probably tow the trailer less than 3,000 miles per year. Mainly to local-ish...
Good heads up on the payload. I definitely need to do some math.
I went back in my notes and it appears the last time I weighed the camper (loaded with gear, no liquids in tanks) it was 4300 pounds. I grossly misremembered that.
I have wanted a 3/4 ton truck for a long time but the rational...
