    MT's vs Duratracs...WOW

If you live in an area with frequent ice storms in the winter, they're terrible. Great in snow though. Just something to think about.

'96 L400 Delica build and adventure thread!

So I did manage to get new horns on, nothing fancy but at least they work! Roof rack has been removed for some upgrades and refitting. While it's off I can bed-line the roof, having the rack on there has cause the wind to chew through the paint. Also, with no rack I'm saving a noticeable...

    Camping hot tub!

Me too man, I just love the idea of it. It's hilarious! I had a buddy that had a truck bed trailer he would tow in and line with a tarp. Then he ran a water pump and a heat exchanger off the engine somehow. Mad genius.

    Homemade Roofracks.

I think you're right, even if I make just the outer support leg with the holes and forgo the rectangular tubing. The rack is kind of flimsy, so I want to keep weight off it. Hmmmmm.......

    Homemade Roofracks.

Unfortunately I cannot weld aluminum, I would rather leave the rack as is if possible. The roof is a no go for solid mounting, too much rust in Ontario.

    Homemade Roofracks.

Correct! Holes on top, the top of the basket will sit just below the bottom of the holes. The bottom of the mounts will either be the old feet re purposed for the new ones, or something fabled up. But I'll tackle that when I get to it. Do you think 5mm is too thick for the legs? I would like...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Advice! Hey everyone! So, I'm looking to modify my existing roof basket and was looking for some input. What I'm looking for is something lower profile, tighter to the roof. Options to attach an awning, and somewhere to carry a canoe. Easy, right?? Here's what I'm starting with The rack...

'96 L400 Delica build and adventure thread!

Hello! Sorry for the delay, I've been spending time on my SV instead of the van this summer. Only one toy at a time! Yes, that corrosion is from the road salt, even though it does get oil sprayed every year. The bull bar was on it when it came over. One day, I would love to sell it and get a...

    Steel thickness for recovery points?

I'm fully aware that my chrome-ness is nothing more than a fancy light mount. It was on it when I bought it. I've since come to realize that the stock tow points are on the stock bar, since that has been removed, I'm hosed. I think my only option is going to be getting something like THIS...

    Steel thickness for recovery points?

So here is a VERY rough idea of something that could be welded to the frame, with a hole through the arc portion for a shackle.

    Steel thickness for recovery points?

I wasn't planning on using those brackets, they are absolutely for show only. I did think that there were bolt holes on the side of the chassis from the stock bull bar though. I'm thinking if I can get something that can be on the bottom where the current brackets are and wrap up around the...

    Steel thickness for recovery points?

So, after some closer inspection I think anything would require some heavy fab work. This is what I was hoping for, you can see this guys recovery point in red that he has on his custom bumper. This is what I am working with though, there are supposed to be factory tow points but I think they...

    Steel thickness for recovery points?

I would like to get some proper recovery points made for the front of the Delica but I'm wondering what you fine folks think the best thickness of steel would be? I'm thinking 1/4". There are factory bolts through the front of the sub frame that I will have a closer look at and see if they are...

    FIAMM horn stuck on?

So my horn died the other day, no surprise as only one has worked for awhile and the connections were about to fall off on the second one as well. The day it finally stopped working I went and bought a set of FIAMM low tones and wired them up today. I turn the van on and HOOOONNNNNNKKKKK...
