We all know the ball hitch isn't the best for off road, mostly due to the lack degree of rotation.
But where is the limit? And what happens when you push it (breakage?)
Here is where i'm coming from: I have a trailer I use for camping, most weekends, and I have a small boat I take to the lake...
Took a quick trip to the Wenatchee area Friday night.
The original plan was to run the 6700 road from Hwy 2 to about Lake Wenatchee and find a spot to camp. About 5 miles off hwy 2 we found a fair bit of snow. And some nice guys stuck in it. Pulled them out, and decided to turn around...
Well my wife took the 4th and final part of her CPA exam on Thursday, so we went on a whirlwind trip to celebrate! No hard core trails or anything, but plenty of dirt roads, and a lot of driving. But it was a great trip!
First night was outside Leavenworth. Got the tent set up just in time...
OK, might be a weird question here:
Trying to keep my trailer light, and simple. But I was thinking it would be nice to have a couple lights and a spot to charge a phone or something. But I don't have a 7 pin, don't have the funds to re wire it, or a place for a big battery. So I was thinking...
Well I went back and forth on buying a HF trailer or building my own. I Happened into enough steel to do the frame so Im going that route!
Im aiming for a small light trailer, just enough to carry the extra stuff that doesn't fit in the truck.
Ordered the axle. I wanted a 64" hub face, but...
Strong enough for a small trailer frame? 48x60 box and 48" tongue is what I was thinking. Would run a heavier wall piece end to end for the tongue. I have a bunch of it for free and am wondering if its worthwhile. Or if its not strong enough....
Truck: 97 E350 gas, 4x4 conversion using F series parts (as far as i can tell)
Found a fun quirk this weekend. When I shift to 4x4, it goes in, drives fine, but when I shift from D to R, it seems to pop into neutral in the T case (towards 2wd i think). And if i go to shift back in, it grinds...
Searched, read lots, still have some questions.
My rigs is an E350 based small winnebago, salem kroger 4x4 conversion. Built as an emergency vehicle for the local county. Haven't weighed it yet myself but title says scale weight is 11,440 lbs, but a fair bit of radios and gear were removed...
Anyone have personal experience with this unit? Seems like a way better way to judge battery life rather than voltage. Looking at installing one in my new truck to monitor the two house batteries...

So I have been looking for a 4x4 RV to replace my RV trailer I currently have. Its awesome for ski bumming in the PNW but my truck hates to tow it. Wife also wants to be able to move around on longer drives...
Hi Guys,
Im looking for some advice. I've searched and read a few threads on snow and 2wd vans, and I would like a little more input.
Im looking at building a ski bum mobile, but having a wife daughter and two 100lb dogs i want a little more space than a van can offer. Im trying to replace a...
So I am taking all the storage drawers out and returning the cargo area back to stock.
So on that note, would anyone local be interested in the set up? I hate to see it get scrapped. Id like to sell it if at all possible.
The build up can be seen here...
Took a trip out to LT Murray Last weekend. I had never been out there before and it was really beautiful, Still pretty chilly this time of year though.
My destination was Tamarack Springs, But we ended up going a bit further as someone was there in a pop up camper. Only saw a few other 5th...
Looking for an old synthetic Winch line or extension someone has retired. I'm on a budget and would like to use it as a Winch extension. I'm in Seattle WA
I'm trying to find a tonneau cover for my trailer made from a '72 Datsun pickup. No tonneau cover companies or retailers seem to be able to look things up by dimension only by make model and year, and datsun doesn't exist in their catalogs.
If people who drive small pickups would br willing to...
I thought I'd ask for a little help here.
I'm looking for a tonneau cover for my trailer, made from a 72 datsun, who's bed doesn't exist in any cover catalogs. I'm hoping that a toyota bed maybe close, if anyone is willing to give me the inside dimensions of their bed it would be awesome. I'm...
Ok i may be going out on a limb here, while i really like the propex heatsource furnaces, i have no where near the budget for that. So ive been sick at home thinking for a couple days now....
Couldnt one get a small modern RV heater, one that uses a separated heat exchanger (most of the new...
im looking for a good tie down loop. ive seen one on this forum that looked like this _/---\_ (excuse the drawing) made from like 3/8" rod. i cant seem to find it anywhere now. anyone have an good ideas? i can use a piece of chain but i think it looks a bit ghetto IMO.
Trying to do a spring over, don't want to move the perches, is it going to be bad to run the truck axle upside down? I don't want to fry the third. I think it would be fine but just want to make sure.
