Nice 80! Congrats on picking one up. I'll share some thoughts that might be different from others that have been shared. Other than 4.88 gears my 80's drivetrain/steering/axles are all stock. I push the truck hard and fast and I've put over 100k miles on it since I got it 4 years ago and...
A few photos of the completed 1" body lift. As you'd expect there is some visible separation between the body and the bumpers but its minimal enough that the aesthetics do not bother me. A couple pics of the problematic bolts that turned this into a longer project than it needed to be...
I was given a 1" body lift a while back that I was maybe going to use when I went to 37's. I took the necessary steps to trim and adjust bumpstops to fit the 37's without the body lift. But I decided to install the body lift over the weekend so that I can shorten the bumpstops and regain a bit...

Simple mod recently. Modified my second swingout and added a mount for my CO2 tank. It's been mounted inside the back of the truck but I've got some drawers in the works and needed to move the tank. This seems to work well and it's pretty protected by the spare and the fuel can basket.
CO2 by...
I don't disagree. The whole reason I did leaf springs in the beginning instead of something more elaborate is because how reliable and effective the leaf springs are. Breaking a spring hanger off the frame isn't gonna leave you stranded. If you busted a weld off on a trailing arm, you might...
Been almost a year since I last posted to this thread and 10 years since I started it. Seemed like a good time for an update. I haven't changed too much with the trailer since my last post from last year but it's probably getting a pretty serious overhaul this summer. The past 10 years of use...
Nice job. Just went through the thread for the first time. Lots of great ideas on your trailer and it's put together nicely. Well done. Its just sad you used Herculiner on it. It's probably the very worst of the DIY liners. Besides the extremely coarse texture, it's not very UV stable and...
I built custom brackets. There are holes in the bottom of the seat runners. I basically built a "crossmember" from 1" sq tube with low profile tabs that bolted to the holes in the runners. Then I cut out some feet and bolted them in the stock locations, set the set in the truck with a new...
Thought I'd share a few pics from the SW Adventure 2019 trip from a few weeks ago. Spent 5 days guiding a group of Slinky suspension dealers/customers around southern Utah and finished our route in Moab just in time for the start of Cruise Moab. It was the third year for this trip and it was...
Unhook the swaybar, loosen the bolts for the control arms and panhards. It can also help to have an extra person to step on the hub and push the axle down a bit further. Remember when you loosen/tighten the control arm/panhards only turn the side with the washer not the flange. The flange side...
I haven't owned any Scheel-Mann seats but have sat in them several times. I am shopping for a set for my own truck and I think they are worth the cost especially for long trips.
I currently have Leather, Heated seats from a 2011 VW Jetta installed in my 80. They have been a nice improvement...
After I got back from the spring break trip I noticed this. Got a bent radius arm.

Found a used set of stock arms with good bushings that will be swapped in this week. That will take care of them until the new Slinky radius arms are released in the next...
finished up the mods for bumpstops etc to go with the 37s. So far, really happy with the Timbren Active Offroad Bumpstops. In the rear I have about 5.5" of shock shaft showing at ride height. The Timbren bumps in the rear are set to bottom out at about 5" compression so that should be just...
Couple updates.
Spent a week with my family exploring Southern Utah for spring break. Had a great trip, but broke a shackle hanger on my trailer in a very remote location. Had to get creative with a fix to limp the 50 miles of dirt back to somewhere I could weld it up. All part of the...
Ok, just because you're are hoping so much I'll say it's available! But really, it is. It's a Prinsu Design Studio rack.

Couple things to note. Mine was built by request since the original owner was local to me and they didn't...
Comeup's been around since before the 70's ;)
Neither here nor there, but the location that something is manufactured these days in pretty irrelevant. Everyone is able to decide how to spend their money however they choose and if that means you don't like something, then you don't like...
You know where most Ramsey and many of the Warns are made don't you? So were Superwinches. ;) It's a global market now for all brands. Doesn't really matter where something is made anymore. It all comes down to what materials and quality the manufacturer chooses.
In any case, Comeup has...
