I could throw my f150 on many jeep trails but I won’t throw it on a jeep size trail where damage could occur.
This track looks big enough for 2 semis side by side and not too difficult.
I just went through the same thought process for my wrangler and just being stubborn about not getting a 12v fridge/freezer.
Like what was said, separate coolers for protein and other.
I do not own a’supercooler’ so for the price of entry I just broke down and bought a 37l bougerv...
Anything electric exposed to water will shortcut. Unless it is perfectly distilled ultra pure water. You can flood a submersible scooter in a crystal clear underwater cave and it will run for a while. Do the same in saltwater and it is instantly over.
The rivian is well sealed but I doubt they...
The sagging is because the Einsteins all want a ‘level’ jeep with no rake hence all the dumb *** leveling kits and most lifts ‘level’ the vehicle. Until you put a bag of groceries in the back and the rear is sagging.
Well, something that seems to be common in the thread is everyone agrees it is a consumer driven market.
While that benefits a lot of us, 95% of the consumers are fighting over the ‘dispersed’ camping anyone can get to in a Corolla or a rav 4.
There have only been a handful of trips on here...
If you want to live the vanlife or stay on every road a Corolla can go on get a big ass air conditioned microwaved satellite tv mega cruiser.
If you actually want to go somewhere that is limited get something that can fit and handle jeep trails. A lot of the best stuff in the us, Canada, Mexico...
Those ground cot shelters are pretty cool. Eventually someone will make a slightly bigger upgraded version.
The other thing I like is the gazelle tents. Fast up and great reviews!
Well, if all the places you want to see are being reached by a sprinter van then get one and post on vanlife sites.
There is much more to see that you can’t get to in a sprinter van.
As mentioned before, whatever you get make sure it is well supported where you go.
Yeah, there pretty much is nothing you are going to fix and it’s not like you can take that into very difficult stuff.
You are likely going to need tools to fix any accessories you add to the truck.
I had to make an emergency trip to key west last week. Filled up in homestead and cruised for 2 hours at 45-60 with very few stops. Drove around key west for a few days and took this after getting on the turnpike to Miami airport.
268 miles, 722 remaining on the tank (990) range, 28.9 mpg by...
121000 on my 2010 2.5 before I traded on my f150. Never an issue. Oil, tires, gas, and other scheduled maintenance. I know a dozen or so people with similar stories so there are many more with no issues than there are with issues in my personal experience.
Been delaying the inevitable and just downloaded Gaia premium. This new ‘layer’ sounds great!
Will download the actual layer tonight and see if the tile counts match the file as I am starting from scratch. Any other tips?
I wouldn’t say all the overlanders are narcissistic just seems like it because they are the ones with the channels.
There are many more than them that just do their thing.
Are you saying in other parts of the world it is overlanding because they do not use roads????
There is almost no where people travel that is not on roads except maybe horseback in Mongolia.
@Av8Chuck. That is a good point about homeless encampments. I have come across a few of the family style ones, just trying to survive. Felt like a scene that could have come from the depression. Very sad.
I do see the other types of encampments also. Obviously not families.
I have an...
@Oscar Mike Gulf Yankee
Remote? Yes. My idea of remote eliminates 95% or more of the people calling car camping etc overlanding.
Some folks idea of remote is a rutted blm road where they can drag their glamper.
Totally different views of ‘overlanding’
I don’t believe there are ‘thousands’...
Since you mentioned that I have looked at some “tent cots” The biggest ones I could find sleep two which is a great option for a lot of people. A larger one shouldn’t be that much harder to manufacture and I think a lot of folks would want one so they do not deal with a rtt.
My equipment? A stock jeep? Pretty easy to justify!
Yes, not many opportunities for week long trail runs. I was thinking more to the point of traveling 4-5 days unsustained via linking off road trails or on some of these longer routes. Lots of folks on here do that and report on it.
What do...
