Thanks for the offer. When I first looked at it I thought SLS was standard with the SE package. When I got underneath it I found it had coil springs. I did some checking then and found it was optional equipment on this model. I am really looking forward to trying it out
I accidentaly dissed my mechanic! I meant 30 years LR experience. Took it on a 350 mi highway trip over the weekend and it did great hauling 4 adults and 2 kids. August 11-15 we'll be heading to Lyons Colorado for a music festival. It doesn't start until the 13th, so I hope to squeeze in some...
Great looking truck!!! I just picked up an '04 yesterday with 43k on the clock and I'm planning the build. What size tires do you run and what mods did you have to do to clear them? That is the stance I'm looking for. Thanks for any advice.
I got it!!!! Haven't had time to get pics yet, but I'll post them this weekend. I really like my current little Yaesu rig and can't really afford to buy another one right now. I do like the dash top box you have for the comm gear. Did you build it or buy it. I think I'll steal your idea at...
I got the creeper out and looked at everything that was recommended. It is unbelievable for a 6 year old truck. Everything looks brand new. I have decided to pull the trigger on this deal pending an inspection by the local Indy LR mechanic. I found one locally who is from
S Africa and has over...
Thanks so much for the great advice. I knew this was the right place to go. I think I'll grab the creeper and go look again tonite. I'll take some pics and post them. It is a gorgeous truck. Is the variable suspension ever a problem if you change the springs to OME, etc?
Hey guys, I've had a lit of different 4x4s over the years but not any rovers. I've found one that seems to be a great deal but I need advice from the experts. It's a 2004 Discovery SE7 with 43000 miles on it. It looks and drive lime brand new. I know it's history and it had never even had low...
After speaking with Mike at Johnsons Quality Machine, I think I'll try one of his heads. He was very helpful. He said he has personally soold almost 50 of these and the warehouse in Pa. he gets them from has sold almost 500 and they haven't had one come back. He also had a lot of good advice...
I took the head to a machinist and he said this head had been worked before at least once because it had a heat tab on it that showed it hadn't been overheated badly. The reason I'm looking at replacement is there are no obvious leak points and he said since it is over 20 years old there could...
My son's 1988 4wd pickup was getting warm and when he pulled over there was a small amount of coolant in the oil. We pulled the head, and saw no cracks, but the gasket area between the two inside cylinders didn't seem quite kosher. It is warped .008" and a couple of the exhaust manifold stud...
If you ever plan to resell it and it is factory air fix it. You will enjoy it when you need it and it can make a huge difference in certain parts of the country when you try to sell it. It may be a minor issue such as a clutch that isn't an expensive repair.
OMG!!! I wish it was two months later. I'll have the ex's car paid off then. This is what I've been looking for. Does it have air conditioning? Not a deal breaker, but very desirable here in Oklahoma.
I have a 1991 4x4 ext cab shortbed Chevy 1/2 ton that they will have to pry from my cold dead fingers. We have raised 3 kids and traveled everywhere in it. As far as longetivity is concerned, it has 250,000 miles on it and has had no problems other than a water pump, alternator, and starter...
It's Sold!
I wish I would have had time to build it. My divorce 4 years ago killed the project. The truck is actually in pretty good shape. The guy that bought it said he had looked at 18-20 short wide beds of this vintage and this was by far the straightest. I still came out ok on it. I...
79 Ford f-150 short bed 4x4. 390 auto. ps pb air. Has been parked for several years. When parked it ran, but oil pressure would drop after it was warmed up. Was told it needed a crank kit. The transmission, transfer case, front and rear end are good. 9 inch rear end. Dana 44 front...
I hope this is the correct location to post this since they are parts and not a vehicle. If not, please let me know.
The front Dana 44 axle is from a 1982 full size Jeep Wagoneer. Disc brakes. it has the stock gearing which I believe is 3.23 or close to that. When I removed it I cut the brake...
I have a factory poly gas tank out of a 1982 Grand Waggie in great shape. You can have it free if can figure out how. I am selling/buying houses and moving right now and don't have time to ship it. Pm me if you want it
