    Project "Autonomous" F-350

I still have 2 more trucks too. Projects for miles.

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

Just my opinion, but I would run some sort of bump stop that would hold the truck up in case the bag failed.

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

Argh! The distributor I ordered had a damaged o-ring, my bellhousing is coming from Canada so it's held up in customs, and the header I ordered is also delayed for some reason until next month. Guess I will work on the oil pan, and mounting the accessory drives. The way the intake/exhaust gets...

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

Cheap, that's what I meant. :D Out the door with stock components and not including a transmission adapter or shipping, the 4BT is $7500. In the truck it would be pushing 10K. I'll take my free dinosaur any day.

I looked at it, but that doesn't fit into my frugal budget. After I sell the parts I'm removing, the inline 6 will be free.

Purchased the final piece of the puzzle, a Clifford intake manifold.

Sorry about your ******** panel. When I was a kid, I had a Shepard-Collie mix that looked just like your dog. Best dog I ever had.

80-20 aluminum shapes & fittings - pick up cap fabrication - will it work?

I don't think it will stand up to vibration. The material is aluminum, the hardware is steel. I worked with Bosch aluminum strut in an industrial application. The steel hardware is substantially stronger than the aluminum material. You can torque the bolts to recommended specs but eventually the...

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

Spent the day building an engine stand for the I6. Now I can work on the intake/exhaust, making the accessory drive brackets, fab the bellhousing, and modify the oil pan. It looks like I can just flip the pan around. Will only have to modify the pick up. Still waiting for the bellhousing, but...

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

Solved my bellhousing problem. Found one on ebay for an automatic trans. Now I can fabricate the back half of the bellhousing with the correct bolt pattern and depth so I have full engagement of the input shaft into the pilot bearing. I won't have to do any other mods, the starter and flywheel...

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

I picked up this 223 for cheap. So cheap in fact that I think I can recover the entire cost of the engine and transmission by selling the parts I'm not going to use. I found a clutch that works but am having bellhousing issues. I might have to fabricate one because the input shaft on the T-18 is...

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

When I started this thread I promised to share what I learn along the way. I have found a source that is just plain amazing. Usually when you go to an auto parts store looking for something out of the ordinary you are just plain out of luck. If you are running a manual transmission and need some...

    97 F-350 CCLB build:

I have a 92 bronco for sale right now. :D Most of the mechanicals are new and it has a solo stage II suspension on it. It's exactly what you need.

Have to add modifying the oil pan to the list. If you want it good, you want it fast, and you want it cheap; pick 2 and call me back.

Those are the later 300 engines; this motor is the early 223. I plan on making an adapter plate to bolt the T-18 to the stock bellhousing. A vacuum gauge sounds like a good idea but I might get obsessed with it. o_O

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

I got an engine to go in my Baja Brick truck. One of the worst things about running a 460 is the fuel mileage. The engine is a stump puller and totally reliable but when you have to cover huge distances, it's a gas hog. Lately I have been finding myself short-shifting and generally trying to...

You are definitely a leaf spring guy. Good to hear your little 302 served you well. I am going to put an even smaller engine in my 88.

Distance between camper rails and truck rails, how high can I go?

Put a link to your build thread in your signature.

Distance between camper rails and truck rails, how high can I go?

Looks familiar. I think Uhaul builds them with the rust already there. :D I would use a minimum of grade 8 hardware. If you are allowing it to move in the front, you will need some guide plates to keep the box centered over the rails. Do you have a build thread going?
