    2008 Suburban Sensible mods

I really did not like the look of the GMT-900 when's they came out, but yours and Dirtbag's look awesome! The bodystyle has definitely growing on me! Also, I agree, the more rubber the better (for a given diameter tire) for off road!

Window insert for 12VDC fan ventilation

That's not nice? lol. Great work. I would love to be able to make a solution like that. If you ever decide to make a prettier one, I'm first on the list to buy it.

    2002 Suburban 4x4 "Base Camp"

Lookin good and looking forward to your build! For the front bumper, on each side of the bumper underneath each corner are these what I can best describe as tubular mount arms. Take BFH (big Hammer) and wack them until the bumper is straight. My bumper was tilted forward and that's what I did...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

adding the gauge is half the work of replacing which you already know how to do :) just throw in the stepper motor in the spot, you've been there so it will be a cinch! I call it 50/50 on plug and play haha If not it's just cluster programming and not carside, so it's not too expensive to get it...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

On both my GMT800's I put the stepper motor and new "back splash" w Transmission temp markings. The stepper motors are easy as heck if you've soldered at all. On my 2003 put the stepper motor in (actually replaced all of them with high quality while I was in there), bought new nice red...

(Another) Forest Living Suburban Build Thread

Well had some progress that last few weekends... Hoping to finish up some small ends (Door and latch for the winch stuff compartment) and painting this weekend. Had my buddy help me do the aluminum bending, he does awesome work.... Anyway, as the result of accidentally leaving the single rear...

2003 Chevy Suburban 2500 LT build

Awesome rig! Looking forward to seeing your bumper choice and a RTT! Pretty sure all leafspring 14 bolts are the full float. For the 14 bolts, if it's rear coil then it's semi float, if it's leaf it's full. I guess the other option is to check:) I'm pretty sure this rig has the full float. The...

Beating a dead horse, but.... Hiking boots?

This. Anything in remotely nice weather, good trail runners. I now pretty much only wear boots doing yard work at home, crappy walking day in the city, around camp and when there's snow or cold water on the ground. One of my buddy's did the California section of PCT and started with boots, he...

    Cabela's Trailgear Covers

The upper shoulder belt hump I had to make an opening. Also, had to cut a little and sew a look on the inboard side of the hole for the head rest because the velcro opening was too small (If you exchange you'll see what I'm talking about. Also, I'll make sure to take pictures. I would exchange...

    Cabela's Trailgear Covers

rayra- My seats are the same design, but with cloth. However- I got the cover with removable headrests Martin posted. I'd say that's your fitment problem. My only problem was the shoulder belt, not the fitment on the side bolsters, etc. I'll get pictures this weekend when I'm with the truck

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

LOL a 1500 GMT800 37's with a body lift and cranked keys is not unique, go to any local mall in many areas and look under them. I'd guess you wouldn't see any pinstriping on them either. What is rare is a GMT800 with a bodylift and 37's on the trails. Reason is those trucks will break...

    Cabela's Trailgear Covers

Rayra, Wait, did you get the ones with the lacing down the side? I will be with my truck this weekend I'll get some pictures on how I cut and sewed. I believe all i had to do was cut the area where the shoulder belt extrudes from the seat, and move the velcro a little to the outside so that...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

EDIT- Not going to comment the the rest.... it was a good discussion in regards to the hubs, cvs, etc... thought the point of forums was to discuss pros, cons, experiences. Just at a loss, don't really know what to say with towing 12000 pounds with a 1500 truck without (or even with) trailer...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

I actually ended up buying the boxed (not adjustable) uppers, their adjustable lowers, and their track bar. I am very ,very happy so far. Much less slop in the rear end, especially at high speeds. I really think my stock trackbar was flopping around. For the 400-500 bucks definitely a good...

good suspension upgrades for 1500 suburban z71

For simple kit I started with a 1.5 inch spacer in the rear and keys in the front. It gave me the extra clearance underneath, and could run 33's with no trimming even at full compression. The ride was nothing to write home about, but it was a very functional setup! No bad for only 100 bucks...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Make sure you check the play yourself if you can. I tried TWO of my not usual shops recently after redoing my front end (basically all that you mention and more) out of location convenience to my work and my usual guy being on vacation. They both told me I had play in my inner tie rods. I didn't...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

I would say yes, much more. In terms of the tranny, off road in my expierience is much harder on it. You spend more time shifting and with an unlocked TC than towing on the open road and, at slower speeds which means everything heats up faster. I tow 6k with mine very often and back when I was...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Yes, you are correct in terms of the load bearing. Thanks for clarifying where I didn't. I would still stand by my statement to not use hubcentric wheels on lugcentric spacers (or hubs) especially when wheel and tire weights are close to 2 times the weight of stock. I always understood that...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

While I am very weary of 37's on the 1500 running gear and would highly recommend against it, as stated the 10 bolt is not going to like the 37's at all, much the less the 8.25 front end... All of this adds up to anywhere you actually needed 37's for, will just blow up your running gear and get...

    Cabela's Trailgear Covers

I have a pair in the front seats of my 2004 suburban. I'll take pictures tonight. Had to cut and sew the covers to fit over the seat integrated seatbelts. For the ~29-39 bucks I paid for them in Cabelas I am really happy.
