The buddy system always works! We were on the Mohave Road when I sucked some water in my intake and hydro-locked; kicking a rod out the side. Even in a new truck, if you spend a lot of time offroad, sooner or later you will suffer some sort of breakdown. If I was alone, I would have had to hike...
Agreed Pat. I don't know how retroactive charging of fees can be legal. I'll bet they get sued for this. I want to know who the genius is that thought this was a good idea. People are going to go somewhere else just on principle.
This has been a difficult month. Not only did I get screwed by photobucket, but I am typing on the 5th new laptop I have purchased in the last 4 weeks. Hopefully, the fifth time's a charm. Each time I have had to reload all my programs. Validation fails because they think I'm running the...
Thanks for all the suggestions. The thing that makes me mad is having to go back and reload all the photos. I did the first couple of pages but some will be lost from the build thread. I have most of it but the time involved.... Who is the idiot at photobucket who thought this was the way to go?
Apparently Photobucket has taken everyone's images hostage and unless you pay their $400 a year extortion rate, they will not release your photos. I uploaded my photos when they said it was free. Now they retroactively deny me the service they agreed to do. I wonder how long it will be until the...
Building a custom vehicle is not for the weak. I built three different rear suspension designs before I got what I wanted; so I know how it feels. It's better you found the weaknesses while you could revise them easily. Having a failure in the boonies really sucks.
I use a Pressure Pro system that has been flawless. I allows me to monitor my driving tires and my spares. http://www.pressurepro.us/index.asp?PageTypeId=3
Unfortunately, yes. Ford power steering pumps are notoriously weak and noisy. Swapping to a saginaw pump is a popular upgrade; I did it on my truck. I don't remember if your truck is a diesel Paul, but if you can find the bracket from an ambulance, it's a bolt on. Otherwise you need to modify...
Working on cantilever shock design 3.0. I think I got it this time. Simplicity is the hardest thing to achieve in a design. At least my welding has improved with all the practice. I would post pics but my laptop crashed and I'm waiting for a replacement.
Stock frames flex. Welding the entire length of the frame will add stiffness but requires complete disassembly. In the end, it will probably still flex. It's easy to build a rigid frame from scratch using a triangulated design. Truck frames don't have that.
