Official "My name is..." "And I ride..."

Hello. My name is Darin and I just bought the first bike I've owned in over 20 years. No pics yet, but it's a 2011 Marin Sky Trail. Basically a decent enough entry level bike. I'm hoping it will be the tool I need to lose the rest of the weight I want to lose.

What is wrong with this picture? - warning, possibly offensive content

I just suddenly got the feeling that I get when I'm riding my Yamaha and a bunch of guys with Harleys who are clearly doing it right (and better than me) come by and maybe one of them will return my wave. This weekend I got to watch a few of them almost fall over when I told them I've put 5000...

    Headlight Modulator

I don't have a real expedition-type bike, other than the long, winding road type of expedition. I've got a V Star 1300 cruiser that I am putting some serious highway miles on. Right now I've got the stock halogen headlamp, and I don't know if it's stock or a mod, but my brakes flash a few times...

Do you want a diesel Jeep? Goto http://JeepDieselPetition.com and sign the petition!

I'd like to have a diesel option, but I expect that the "bean counters" will also recognize that alot of people will sign that petition who don't have the funds to buy a diesel should one exist. Looking on the internets, I'm finding that diesel accounts for just over 4% of the market in the US...

    Sausage!

I honestly don't know much about grinders. My guess is it would be OK, but doing some comparison looking, it seems the price is rather low for the horsepower rating they claim. That makes me a bit suspicious, but it might be fine. I paid right at $200 for the one I bought.

    Sausage!

We use this grinder. link to LEM It came with a couple grinder plates as well as stuffing attachments. It works great! I will have to check on the smoker. It's basically about the size of a 1/2 refrigerator. It has 4 shelves and an electric heating element in the base. It has a slideout hopper...

    Sausage!

I didn't take any pictures because the process basically looked like last time. Ended up boning out probably 18-20 pounds of venison and wild boar. After we cleaned it up a bit we also had probably 8 or 9 pounds of pork belly. The texture of the meat is much different than previous versions. We...

    Sausage!

Just brought home a full leg of venison and a full leg of wild boar! They're in the fridge to start thawing so I can start processing them for making sausage this weekend. I'm going to go to my local asian market Saturday morning and buy some pork belly to add to the mix. More to follow. Yay!

    Sausage!

Mmmm... that stuff looks good. We're still on track for making more within the next couple of weeks or so. I'll post up a summary. You will not regret stepping up to a purpose built grinder/stuffer. I have been looking at them on craigslist for some time, but when I found this one on clearance...

    Sausage!

We'll mix the venison and boar. It's a combination that I remember my great uncles and grandfather making - always with great results. My great uncle Otto Bachman (sound German enough?) used to trap boars in a horse trailer and then feed them out for a bit in a paddock on his farm. Cleaned up...

    Sausage!

A coworker is giving me some venison and wild boar! Me and Nate will be making more sausage in a few weeks. So far everyone has really liked this stuff. It's going to be fun to try a new style. We're thinking of adding some serranos to a few in the next batch. I love serranos - they're...

    Sausage!

My brother and I made sausage over the weekend. I went to my local Academy to buy some casings and found a .35 hp grinder/stuffer on clearance so I bought it. Previously we've used his KitchenAid mixer with a grinder attachment, and have been less than satisfied with the results. We're the 4th...

    Best years

Wow. I didn't know used Rubicons were selling for that much. Maybe I should sell mine... LSJC - yeah - maybe they have cleaned house. Any other questions can be in e-mail or PM as I don't wish to site-bash in an open forum. I met some very good people on that forum but the idiots are why I...

What is a good Jeep Forum?

Jeepforum is running a special for premium memberships right now, by the way. All the benefits of membership (whatever those may be - but I have been a supporting member for several years now) - at a reduced price! I've met some good folks through jeepforum, bought and sold various parts and...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

My Jeep in the Everglades. Just kinda dug this picture. Riding along I got to shoot this pic along the road near Flamingo. This guy was about 4 1/2 feet long!

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

I haven't tried yet. I riveted that rear loop on there to use for the middle strap on a bikini top, but I haven't put the retainer on and checked to see what happens. I also haven't tried putting the softtop up yet to make sure everything still works. I'm kinda scared to, but I really think...

    ZR2 Owners Thread

I used to have an '01 ZR2 Blazer. I have quite a few pics on my other computer and I'll post a few up. That Blazer, and some of the adventures I had with it, are what introduced me to alot of the guys here on ExPo many moons ago. I liked the old girl, but I definitely like my TJ Rubicon quite...

    TJ clutch question

Follow up - The pilot bushing was in pieces when they dropped my transmission. The input shaft was gouged badly due to this. So not only am I getting a new clutch, but I'm also getting some transmission repairs. Expensive. But I guess I can expect to not experience further problems in this...
