While pricing is still being worked on, our goal has been to get the 4 person under $10K. The 2 person of course would be less than that.
The prototypes will be on Expos in the field upon completion. We are also trying to get ready for some trade shows as well. Not sure which at this time...
Ok boys and girls...the final design in on the books.
Based on the unreal positive feedback we have received (my partner is presently on tour in the Northwest and has been polling campers), we are looking to have two fully prepared prototypes completed by Nov 2010. In addition to the 4 person...
Got mine today. Plugged into the 12v, compressor came on with no trouble. AC power worked great too. As for the "scratch & dent part" mine has one little ding and some tape residue on the top. Other than that looks great.
So far, very satisfied.
I took this into account during the design phase. In the end, the intent was to keep the design simple, yet provide a proper amount of storage and usable space. To accommodate additional counter space, I have included a separate table that attaches with hooks to galley area. In order to keep...
No worries. I design for a living. Lots of different things. From architectural interiors to automotive products. My partner in crime is the one who *really* wants to build these. If he can pull it off, all the power I say. I just want a trailer. :victory:
It's all in how you fabricate, assemble and setup the process. Having a resource like my partner, will make this happen quickly.
Heck, we could even sell it as a kit for assembly by the owner. :victory:

Contacted FlipPac, the lead times for the tents is looooong. 6 weeks+. In addition, the sizing is either too big or too small and only allowed for a forward or rear flip top. This version allowed me to retain the trailer being connected to the rig.
Howdy folks...
Here is the latest.
The trailer. Well...it has gone from simple to complex. An Expo'r and local GA guy from Toccoa contacted me and offered his metal shop services if we built two trailers together. At first, I simply wanted one for myself. But after talking at length, looks...
Hey Elmo...
I can empathize with the frustration of not seeing the design. Given that we are looking into potentially selling these, we want to take every precaution to ensure our design is safe to produce and does not infringe on any other current product out there.
That said - four adults...
Saw that on Jess' thread. Awesome work.
Update - Much has been happening. I have been discussing this project with a fellow Expo'r and metal fabricator. We are debating on preparing a trailer that could be put into production. As a result, we are preparing to build two prototypes for...
Well...after a good discussion with a friend (metal fab guy), it looks like some doors have opened to what direction we are going to take this.
Metal framing.
Base trailer structure will be steel. We are also investigating independent suspension options. My preference is simplicity by...
Not to worry. Only one layer is shown. The pockets shown allow for insulation. What you don't see are the verticals that have been designed into the structure aside from the panels. The material of choice is 3/4" ACX plywood for all structural elements. It will then be covered with 1/4...
Project Update.
Getting closer. Working the details. I have also confirmed a local source for a CNC Router to cut all the wood form plywood sheets. This includes the spars as the plywood will certainly be stronger than straight fir or poplar 1x2's.
More to come...
