    OBS F250/F350 Flatbed camper build

Just bought a F350 that I'm picking up next week. A little newer with a 6.4l diesel but hope to do some similar mods. I don't have the skill set to build my own bed but am thinking going flat. Have to wait and see what kind of condition it's really in before dropping any more cash into it.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Yep that's the one. I was doing the Idaho BDR last summer and that's the "Hippie Bus" just outside Burdgorf Hotsprings.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Not to rub salt in the wound but Thanksgiving Day will mark 26 years since my last speeding ticket. We were just coming back from meeting my Mother-in-Law for the 1st time and got it rolling into Moab, UT heading back to Idaho from NM. My wife gets really mad every time I mention that...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

We moved to Central Idaho back when the state had less than 1 million. Idaho County is the size of Mass. and at that time had less than 12k people there. Those were the good old days (circa 1980).

    Texas overlanding anyone?

We've been there 3 times just not over a "holiday" type week. The the primary reason I'll be going over early to get the sites planned out.

    Texas overlanding anyone?

Tex68w I'll be heading to Big Bend in March as well but not sure the dates yet. I have a friend in Houston that wants me to be a tour guide for him and his 2 daughters (8 and 12) while they're on Spring Break. Just waiting to hear from him but I'll likely head over early to get some primitive...

Need obd2 wifi scanner and iPhone app.

I have the FIXD unit and app. Easy to use and diagnose but took me a few minutes to figure out how to reset the codes. For $70 I was able to get 2 of them (one for each truck) but that was a special last year. Not sure what they're going for now.

    Any one dumb enough....

I have a Ruger American in .308 and the way it kicks can’t imagine that in a pistol.

    Jacks for expedition vehicles

I carry a 12 ton bottle jack for my Nissan Titan. A little overkill but I can help just about anyone out. I mate it with a piece of 2x10 for a base and several pieces of 4x4 for extra height. We had the chance to use it on another vehicle on the ID BDR trip.

    Garmin Inreach, communicate your plan!

Also anyone using it should mate it to a smart phone via bluetooth. You can then type your text via the phone (whether there's a cell signal or not) and not have to use the clunky keyboard toggling around to the letters on the inReach.

    Wilco Hitchgate Spare Tire Carrier

By the time you start adding things, like the tire carrier or paint, it soon balloons way over the cost of the Wilco.

    M1078 LMTV expedition vehicle build

It’s hard to say. One could have been assigned to a specialty unit that required all of their equipment to be disposed of in a certain way whether it be computers, trucks, or uniforms. I’ve seen vehicles listed as demil scrap/destruction required just because of the unit they were in.

    GovPlanet 5 ton trucks

It’s in this thread somewhere. Lots of other good info too. Around page 70 or so is where the fan clutch exploded so you might want to pay attention to that section. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?152882-Working-on-the-M1078-LMTV

And I had mine (actually nicer - with AIR Conditioning, sorry Olly) in the classifieds here for $14k and couldn't get ANY interest in it. Sold it locally last week.

    1999 Stewart & Stevenson M1079 LMTV 18,500.00

Since an untitled, unknown condition, M1079 just sold at GovPlanet a couple of weeks ago for $16k + 10% sale fee + taxes (and still needed to be titled) this probably is a decent price. I just sold my M1078 for $14k but it had a lot of new parts on it/with it as well as 3 tires that had never...

    NMBDR by Land Rover

I misspoke in that I did the IDBDR this July, just seems like last year even though it was only a couple of months ago. I also did Expo West this spring and while it was crowded I still enjoyed the opportunity to look around and meet some great folks. While we camped on site I didn't really...

    NMBDR by Land Rover

David, Enjoyed the write up. I'm planning on doing this next May on my way to Overland West. I did the IDBDR this year and enjoyed it immensely. We took 10 days to do 1250 miles but were pushing it. I plan to go slower this trip to enjoy the trek.

    M1078 LMTV expedition vehicle build

The demil codes are in reference to sale of the item not it's usage. When you purchased the truck you had to get an EUC which stated the vehicle cannot be SOLD outside the US or to a non-US citizen. You can still use it anywhere you want or anywhere that will let you but like Britboaters said...

    GovPlanet 5 ton trucks

Reach in and shake your fan to make sure it's not loose. Lots of issues when the old style fan clutch goes. It usually takes the radiator out with it (from personal experience). If possible I'd recommend switching to the new style clutch and fan now before the issue comes up.
