    435 Importer/Broker

Thank you for the great info. I've been digging and adding up the costs and concluded that it makes more sense to go through an importer if you are not already planning on spending time in Europe. The costs of travel & lodging while looking (plus a little contingency) are greater than the fee...

Sure. Windows are a simple addition. I purchased the windows through: http://www.evginc.net/ The windows in the doors were replaced with new sliders. It was simply a matter of unscrewing the "locking ring", removing the old windows, and then fitting the new ones. The windows in the sides...

    435 Importer/Broker

Cheers! I'll send a PM shortly- Definitely, and still am. My searches have yielded many 406/416's but the U1300's seem harder to find stateside. That would certainly be the preferred route. It's hard to tell if the trucks advertised on the US websites are actually here, or just ones they have...

Yes, and thank you Chris for the compliment. I'm struggling between knowing that I have a problem with impulse decisions and also knowing that the mog platform is bombproof, supported worldwide, and thus guaranteed to help me sleep at night in the boonies.. -and as they say: "There's only one...

    435 Importer/Broker

Hello, I'm aiming for a U1300 this fall for a camper build and wanted to get opinions on using an importer vs. flying over to Germany and doing it yourself. I spent most of last year working in Germany and actually still own a car over there so the buying, export plates, driving to the shipper...

Alright, I'll admit it... -debating a platform switch. My obsession with mogs is becoming unbearable. There are plenty of early 80's U1300 435's for sale in europe in the 12-15k range. I could scrape up some flo, pick one up, mount the box on it. Trying hard not to do the impulse buy thing...

Where did all the time go!? Apologies for the radio silence.. Things went nuts over the holidays last year and I didn't have a minute free for months. I did get 7 patents filed though! :wings: -AND- The van finally got some love again with new windows in last weekend! It felt a little "boxy"...

C rated tires too light for a 4x4 Van?

The links don't go to a specific tire, just the front page. I would find out what the specific load capacity for each tire is. Chris (Ujoint) talked with me a while back about seeing D rated tires de-laminate on a Sportsmobile (presumably because of weight).

I need to get out of these airports, but it seems like the only time I have lately to post.. I know, excuses, excuses.. You're awesome Jack! I'll be checking it out for sure. I could see attaching the turtle shell to the underside of a roof rack/party deck that is raised and lowered. I'm...

    Fun questions & van comments

My best story to date happened on the drive up to the lost coast for the first camping trip. The lost coast is also known for it's proximity to Humboldt County. It may be obvious, but it should be noted that for most people that conjures up a certain horticultural connotation.. Well I happened...

Mucho Gusto! The pics are Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Norcal.. She got a 600 mile test drive on day 1, then a nice clearance test down Usal (err, a nice de-shining of the new paint) :) Cheers and thanks! I'll assist however I can if you go that route. Holidays and work just destroy free time...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

Big thanks for the compliments! I have a lazy build thread here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34160 Much agreed, I paid 5500 for the ambulance. I can't speak for other makes, but the McCoy Miller box has 1/8" AL skin, and is fully welded. The built-ins have solid...
