Have any of you thought of a place to meet up with your family/friends in a bug out situation ? Boonies if you have supplies or near possible resources ?
Still on the fence, don't want a forest of antennas, would like just the CB and GMRS/HAM combo. Looks like most trail rigs are using GMRS, maybe I can go with a mounted HAM and handheld GMRS? Trying to keep things simple.
There has been much talk about which radio to get, but I am getting ready to take my ham tech test and it seems many Off Road people are using GMRS as well, so do I buy a combo radio that does both? heard it may not be legal, but would hate to have a CB, HAM and GMRS in my truck.
Not an issue (Creek crossing) living in the high desert, but a good point, I would say know your environment and the potential issues like that were you live. Idealy you would want to shelter in place, but sometimes you need to run to the boonies.
Good replies and some very entertaining! My FourWheel camper holds plenty of water, but I do not keep it full so, will need to carry a filter system if I do not have the opportunity to fill it. I keep a weeks’ worth of MRE’s in it along with other goodies. Have my BOB ready and other than that...
As many of our Overland rigs will qualify as Bug Out vehicles also, I would challenge my fellow over landers to come up with the best bug out rig and why. I will start with my own.
Assume a natural disaster that leaves your city infrastructure severely damaged or society breaks down or an EMP...
The first few times you use it, you will quickly realize what you would change, you are building something custom, which means for your likes and dislikes. When you out in the boonies you will learn what you wish you had.
Many thanks for the response, did you guys do anything with the back area door? Was thinking of adding a screen or something, also do you need any kind of fan or is it OK as is?
Hi Rich,
Im running the 6 inch lift as well and keep hitting the rear wheel well, have you had this problem?

Make sure and add some shim material between your fender well and the side of the camper, I used some scrap wood, it keeps it tight and wont allow the movement.
I think this trip sums up what this hobby is all about, family and friends getting out and seeing all our countries incredibly sights ! Thanks for bringing us along!
