    Pie iron

Love using them - while camping, bonfires at home or even chimineas! We have one that was designed for corn dogs even! If you can source the old, vintage cast iron ones do so!

Newly restored Defender 110: the perfect balance?

Just saw your follow up. Arkonik vehicles aren't actually know for "restorations" at least not along the lines of ECR, Pangolin, and the such. They are more about "customozing" refurbishments and "bespoke" builds. Funny - they aren't even mounting the Heritage SW badge in the location it was...

Newly restored Defender 110: the perfect balance?

Can you supply information in regard to this. Per the info I have: "The North American Specification (NAS) Defender 110 sold for the 1993 model year carried a badge above the radiator grille which read "Defender", whereas the NAS Defender 90 sold for the 1994 to 1997 model years had "Land...

Newly restored Defender 110: the perfect balance?

Hmm....guess I'll have to take a better look. None that I know of in my area have the "SW" one, they have the one with the vin stamped on it.

Newly restored Defender 110: the perfect balance?

Huh...what year? I've never seen a Defender with a "Land Rover Station Wagon" badge on the back; have only seen them on the older, Series Rovers such as the SIIa. All of them I've seen look like the following. I know there is a company in the UK that lists the "SW" badge as a "heritage"...

    why skottle?

Nah...I got that it was sarcasm, and I kinda sorta figured you were the type that didn't give a frig about social media and appearances. I'm the same way. There are only four social media type things I participate in - this forum, the "Guns & Rovers" forum, the "Overland Bound" forum (which I'm...

    why skottle?

Agreed. I'm tired of seeing all the social media posts showing all the fancy crap people seem to think you "must have" or "need" to be a "real overlander". When I see these all I can think of is "friggin' hipster posser wannabe" who just wants everyone to "look at me" and see what they own and...

    why skottle?

From what I've been told you're not not a "real overlander" unless you own/use a South African cast-iron potjie. There's even roof rack storage system made for them.

    why skottle?

Now see...that's my issue; anything that is basically liquid - eggs, pancake batter and such - will just slide to the center. Any idea why these things were designed this way instead of flat? Not complaining, just curious.

I have seen large "Mecican woks" for sale at flea markets. Would those work? Not sure if they are steel or aluminum though, never looked that close.

    why skottle?

What is the hole in the center for? What did you make the pan out of? Did you weld the sockets for the legs to the pan?

I often wondered the same thing. Never thought about trying my hand at making one, may just have to do that now.

Funny you should say that....there's one hanging in the hall closet. I do prefer a Coburn Great coat though....

    Looking for a particular hat

Yup, they are still available to get them through a few places here in the States, such as David Morgan. Yet you can't get original military puggarees through them, they only have the civilian one. For military ones you either need to go through a surplus dealer or private collector. I got mine...

    Looking for a particular hat

I tend to wear a Korean War US Army M-1951 Pile Field Cap during the winter. When I'm out and about and want to wear something spiffy in the non-winter months I reach for my vintage, Australian issued, Akubra slouch - without the sunburst. I don't pin it up either.

Did some extra digging... it must be the "Stormy Kromer" hat, it does have it's heritage tied to the railroads. https://www.stormykromer.com
