    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Camper will be aluminum tubing. A local "contractor cap" builder is making mine, as well as another member's shell (@Iggy). His will sit on the bedrails like a standard shell, but will have dual hospital doors. Also windoors. The company will remain anonymous until everything works out...

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

The Flippac was actually big enough for our family since the mattress was completely out of the truck bed when deployed. In the 4wc, the mattress extension took up over 1/2 of the bed area. The new camper will extend further over the cab, so the mattress extension will only be 18" or so...

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Reviving an old thread, or I may just create a new one. After selling the Flippac, I went this route for about 11 months. Great setup, but a little small for a family of 4. Also started hanging online and going on trips with the Tacomaworld folks, which spiraled into some upgrades...

    FWC Fleet on Tacoma?

My DCSB Tacoma weighs in at 6,800 with the FWC Falcon. Sliders, full skids, winch, plate bumpers, swingout, etc. My only issue is gearing (on 33's), which will be corrected within the next 6 months. A little under powered, but it handles hills decently and is fine on the freeway. It's a...

Buying a FWC Swift Shell - Question on Options

Gas struts are awesome! I didn't have them on my last FWC, but the roof was longer and it didn't have solar panels. The Falcon (kinda rare) has a short roof and popping up the front was difficult. You're almost in the middle of the roof, when lifting the front, and don't have much leverage...

Cooper ST 255/85 R16's & Toyota Steelies - set of 5 - SF Bay Area

No, I bought them new on 11/26/14. Then... In March of 2015, I bought another one as a full sized spare. In September of 2015, I ripped a sidewall on one. Bought 1 new one. Put that one and the never used spare on the rear axle. Used the remaining one as a spare. Some pics in 2014/ 2015...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

I sold my Flippac to someone with a 1st gen DCSB. Fit great. IIRC, the inside bed width was within 1" at the cab between the 1st & 2nd gen.

Post Pics of your FWC with Lifted Trucks

Slickrock (Bear Valley, CA) trip a few weeks ago. Pivoting on the slider. Beat the hell out of my skids. Camper made it out unscathed.

    bags or trimbrens???

How much do the Timbrens limit up travel when off-road? Deciding whether to bag, Timbren, or add another leaf when the tire carrier goes on. Currently sitting fine with Dakars (extra leaf), 4wc, and plate rear bumper.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the video. With the fantastic fan on high, the force from the closing top really speeds up the fan. It doesn't really pull the sides in until after the big "whoooosh". My guess is that you'll need something with more cfm's than a pc fan. Something like this may...

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Martyn, any thoughts on installing a fantastic fan on the solid rear hatch, or an exhaust fan somewhere in the bed? In my FWC, with the door closed and fan on exhaust, it sucks the sides in when lowering the camper. I just have to tuck two spots near the back corners. It would be...

    SLO flys for flippac

IMO, there's no reason to not get the windows since you can zip up the tent for privacy. Vents are nice, but you have to put the flat bars in the sleeves (from the outside- sometimes hard to reach) to keep them open, even when you don't need them. Otherwise they flap in the wind pretty hard...

Need a source for rollover sofa hardware (hinge-things)

I bought some for my old Scout popup from FWC. I think they were around $75, but that was about 8 years ago.

    AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Based on my old Flippac for the DCSB, the lid/ bed will be the same with more overhang. Since the lid is the same size, the top of the shell will be the same, so additional sleeping space options probably won't change. With the Flippac, the long overhang made a nice storage platform...

Nice work! In addition to not having to unload a cab rack, the full-zipper access to the cab roof is great. You can put light stuff (clothing, etc.) on the cab roof and access it from inside the camper. During dry weather camping of course. Also like all of the webbing to tighten up the tent...

    AT Flip Pac Coming Along....

Anyone notice the missing hammock? Maybe the mattress has a hard bottom panel and sits on those side- mounted aluminum angles. Without the weight of the mattress on the lid, flipping it open would be easier. Another possible advantage of this design is being able to keep the load on the cab...
