New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

Following Java's lead and purchased 4 Hutchensen wheels with 285/70r19.5 tires. They are lost in shipment just like his. Looking forward to experimenting with them and comparing the duel wheel setup with the singles.

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

Returned Sunday from our annual five day "Winter Trip". This time we went to extreme SE Oregon and the Owyhee River. Once again the camper and truck performed superbly. No issues, though there was more than one hairy moment during about 60 miles of muddy slick dirt road. In SE OR you want to...

Nope. I’ve pretty much given up. I could go the Buckstop route and super singles. However I keep coming back to......what I’ve got is working just fine.

Say what? Slander? Foul play? LOL. Scott made it clear he didn’t take my comments personally. Why would you?

One couples experience with Overland Explorer

Maybe it's just a new years resolution or perhaps my comments, upon reflection, came out different then I intended. Whatever the reason; I have chosen to delete much of them and leave only the following. As an Overland Explorer customer I feel qualified to offer the following comments. My job...

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

No its due to 6" wide wheels and tires (265x70r19.5) that require MN of 6.75 and suggested to be 7.5. OEM tires 225/70r19.5 with over 20,000 miles showed even wear.

Thank you. I never considered that approach before, to calculating tire pressure for specific weight, makes sense. I do continue to have issues with odd tire wear on the fronts. I will set them at 60 psi and monitor them. Weights are as correct as a certified scale can make them. ;) Here...

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

Lowered my tire pressure. Drove the entire trip with 55 psi in the rear and 50 in the front. Really smoothed out the ride. Held me speed at a max of 60 and most of the time, if conditions allowed, I was at 55. Averaged 11.7 mpg for the trip. Very happy about that.

Returned from three weeks in the far north. Drove 6267 miles with my truck and camper. Everything performed fantastic. Love my camper. Rock solid and stable. Everything works and functions perfectly.

I know there are more options for International and Dodge trucks. Does anyone know about the possibility of swapping the wheel hubs out for a different one that would match the Doadge ones?

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

Gabe, I agree. My fronts are currently at 65. I’ll run that psi through this week and drop at least 5lbs when I reach cooler temps up north.

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

True, however I have been told that the too narrow rim is creating an exception, by squeezing out the center, and should be taken into consideration when evaluating the tire wear. Fact is at 70 psi on a flat surface I could see daylight under the very edges of the tread, right where the wear is...
