Ace.....welcome back.....I actually wondered where you were.....
After a few days camped here, it was finally time to move on. We stopped in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and walked the streets through downtown. The dogs.....they love this.....easy walking and lots of back rubs & compliments from...
It almost seemed like we were overloaded with the Fall colors.....and it only got better as the days passed by.....
As we climbed higher the forest here became dense.....much like the lower trails.....
And lastly, we walked along the Forest Service roads.....a lot.....
I suspect...
Riversdad.....I think I've got some really sweet pictures of the peak Fall season in the Teton Valley.....coming soon. I love to wander.....that's for sure.....always have.....
the deputy.....I love it when you bring back our travels from the past.....don't hesitate to keep at it.....thanks. By...
Walking the RKO Road.....well, it was fairly uneventful.....
We saw one real nice bull elk but with two eighty pounds dogs on leash pulling at maximum strength.....it was impossible to get a good photo.....
It was late afternoon when we left the RKO Road behind.....
.....and...
Mekcanix.....sunrise and sunset.....my favorite times of the day.....you're welcome.....
We continued south on Highway 191 and eventually circled around Jackson Lake, where we then took the Teton Park Road continuing south. What we did next was maybe a bit unusual.....we drove east on the...
It was 29 degrees that late September morning.....
And the leaves were beginning to change to their fall colors.....some already gold & yellow.....others soon to change.....
So.....we drove south along Highway 191.....leaving behind the thick pine forests shrouded in that dense early...
Arjan.....for sure.....
I suspect that we were out of there long before the sun rose.....certainly before any of my other neighbors had arose.....
Cause I just love getting out there to see that early morning fog along the Snake River.....
Polecat Creek.....had that same eerie, calm...
We also walked along Polecat Creek.....
Somewhere amongst these 360 pages, I've got some of my best moose pictures ever at this very spot.....but no moose this year.....
We also attempted to walk along the shoreline of the Snake River.....it was difficult here.....small pockets of...
ITTOG.....I never knew that.....I was aware that dogs see colors different from man.....just one more thing that I'll have to Google someday I guess.....
Sometime in the afternoon we finally left the park and drove a bit further south. We stopped near Flagg Ranch.....along the Snake...
And the fact that I had prepared myself for the crowds on this trip.....well, that would almost become a theme for the trip.....
Now that I was in this great frame of mind.....we actually took the time to visit some of the more populated sites.....and they were remarkable.....
We even...
chet6.7.....I haven't had a chance to watch one of the videos but I did scan through his video list. It looks like good stuff. I subscribed.....
ITTOG.....blurry ? Do you mean from the smoke ? That's not been much of an issue for us this summer which is really surprising considering how dry...
It was close to dusk when we arrived at the summit so it seemed to make sense to stay for the entire sunset.....
So that's just what we did.....
That turned out to be a great decision.....there was barely a sound to be heard (there was a slight hum from the cell phone tower equipment that...
Ghostdancer.....that was an excellent video. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am now a subscriber. Thanks.....
Dougnuts.....thank you.....
I awoke the following morning thinking that I needed a change of scenery so we backtracked once again to Red Lodge, Montana and from there we drove east, then...
We would stop along the way.....get out.....walk around.....
.....get back in.....drive a little further.....get out.....you get the picture. Finally I parked the Jeep.....
.....and we took off on foot hiking down the road. Bouncing around in the Jeep had quickly lost it's appeal.....if...
Riversdad.....lots of great stuff out there to see.....we're headed back out.....
Arjan.....the knee is the least of my worries. On Sunday I helped a bunch of 20 something guys transplant trees & I pulled a back muscle. I guess my days of acting like a bunch of 20 somethings are long gone by...
Between the lakes we passed through an old growth forest where most of the trees had died and I couldn't help but wonder why they had died ? Was it simply age ? Was it just their time ?
As we approached the second lake I noticed a bald eagle overhead.....what a beautiful unexpected sight that...
the deputy.....once I returned to the cabin, I reviewed my maps one more time (I'm thinking about a third trip there) and realized that I'd actually made an error in my route finding. Had I stayed the course and not returned to the bridge, I would have actually intersected with, and hiked the...
The hike back to the Jeep was mostly uneventful.....no Grizzlies attacked us while passing through the dense forest.....
Surprisingly we didn't see any wildlife other than the Marmots & the songbirds.....a few clumps of white fur attached to clumps of dried grass was about it as far as...
Ace, the deputy, Mekcanix & PNWY.....thanks.....birthdays suck.....not having birthdays sucks even more.....
This was one of those summits where you really want to spend the time that's needed to take it all in. I recall hearing the occasional chirps of the Marmots, and the songs of the many...
ITTOG.....I'm certainly lucky to be able to spend the winter of my life in Montana.....
Ace.....it was yet one more great day in the mountains.....
The Hellroaring Plateau.....that's the name of this beautiful place in the Beartooth Mountains.....
It was somewhere on that plateau that we...
