Looking for advice on a van build...

Considering Powerball rolled up to $291 Million, not as well as could be hoped. Considering my ticket won me $16.00, I can't complain too loudly. All joking aside, I am wondering what a 4wd conversion would cost. Yes it is an old van, but have you seen the cost of new ones? It has the...

Looking for advice on a van build...

FWIW, I may have found the van in question. Not a dedicated hi top, but a Sportsmobile Penthouse roof. I am figuring 9K winch on a tray and receivers front and rear. (No sense in going with a permanent mount on only one end on the beach! Big shovel and spare wheel sand anchor if need be... Max...

Looking for advice on a van build...

I have had a bit of a setback, not a complete project killer for my truck camper build, but I need to build out a full size hi top van. Looking for one now. I tend to do a lot of beach driving, and while a 4x4 van is most likely out of my budget consideration, I am not beyond ripping body...

So work week is killing me, and I am on call this weekend and I already know there will be on call work at least Saturday... So pending off until Sunday sooo... Looking for where TF I put the winch controller for the Engo, it is not where I expected it to be, but once I find it, will hook up to...

So over Saturday we got everything but the bellhousing and motor mount bolts disconnected. We took today off as it's Easter. I did manage to get the water pump and harmonic balancer installed on the new engine with the exception of the harmonic balancer bolt as I understand it's a torque to...

Okay, stripped the Engo E9000 of its aircraft steel rope and mounted it up to the hitch cradle. Not fully ready to mount it up to the receiver and wind in the new synthetic cable. Whipped up a heck of a sweat doing it too... I guess I should have done this outside...

It has been slogging rain down on us which sucks, because we are working on a concrete slab at my friends place. Waiting for a delivery of the high output alternator today, discovered that we have no clue where the ECU is, the other guy took it off and set it down somewhere, he is unable to look...

XPS Sandwich Panels availability in the US

Not just hardware store XPS, I am not sure I would trust pre made XPS panels without framing support.

Going through the arrived parts. VCT Solenoids that were supposed to be Motorcraft I just unboxed, they MIGHT be but if they are, they were removed from the Motorcraft / Ford parts bags and wrapped in bubble wrap. I am NOT happy about this as I already have from the engine builders, a set of...

Spent some time digging through my shop. FIrst time in 30 years I have not had enough 0 gauge wire to hook up a winch. Looking on Amazon, yep copper got expensive. Oh well gotta do it... Only thing I am worried about is if it is copper coated aluminum wire. The front winch came with aluminum...

XPS Sandwich Panels availability in the US

On the Epoxy instead of Polyester resin with XPS foam, Polyester resin with basicall melt XPS foam. On the framing thing. I would have to test that... I am a big, quite fat man and I am not sure I would trust XPS / Fiberglass alone to support my fat tail in an overcab sleeper...

XPS Sandwich Panels availability in the US

You will obviously need some sort of framing, but yes, avoid wood in the construction where you can so you are avoiding the inevitable wood rot.

One of the items that was honestly unexpectedly trashed on the old engine was the harmonic balancer, Not going to re-use the original, but I am going to pull it to get the woodruff key. Got a Dayco on order, and while I was in the order screen, I ordered up a winch cradle, some synthetic line as...

Sorry it was late last night, I needed a shower. So air tube, air box, and throttle body were off of the truck before I got it back. I have the radiator, trans cooler and power steering cooler off, idler, tensioner etc.. off the front of the engine, and injectors / rail out plus the intake...

No pics as we lost light, but got a lot of the teardown done. Radiator, condenser, trans cooler removed, power steeering cooler, most sensors, intake manifold etc... There is just a ton of ******** attached to this engine...

On the idea better safe than sorry, ordered a new Four Seasons AC compressor and receiver dryer. Making space in the shop to work, and realizing that front bumper has to come off... it gets in the way...

I was considering a pull out. Not a powered slide (weight) but just a section that pulls out. Basically I want to use the tailgate to support the toilet / potentially enclose a shower. I think the biggest problem is being able to make that work with a pop up design. Yeah weight i s a huge...

I know about using anti sieze on the threads, I have no clue about that long ceramic snout on these dumb things. As much as I love this truck, I would LOVE an old school pushrod V8 before they started fiddling with all this overhead cam / fiddly variable timing stuff with the funny spark plugs.

Motor mounts arrived, I believe I mentioned we started lining up the parts to bolt to the engine for the install. I need to find the bolts but for now, the bolts for the water pump, are still on the water pump... The question has been posed. do we use some kind of anti sieze on the plugs prior...
