    Northern Baja trip

I had promised my wife I'd turn around and start heading home that evening. I went as far south as I could, but the road got rough and slow-going (rocky instead of smooth sand) at about mile 8, and I ran out of time and just camped when it got dark (green dot): -- Geoff

    Northern Baja trip

I did see that! From the ground it looked kind of like a big "right turn" arrow pointing to the right painted up there on the hilltop. (I could only see the bottom and right arms of the 4-arm cross at the time, the other two must've been hidden from me on the road.) I didn't get out of my...

    Northern Baja trip

Thanks! I was in Mexico for 8 days. Heading south out of Bahía de los Angeles? No, I was a bit preoccupied -- it was late on drizzly afternoon, and I was just driving hard to make it to the San Rafael area to camp on a beach before nightfall.

    Northern Baja trip

    Books on Expedition Campers

I just ordered a copy of Travel Vans, thanks! The other part of my question is that I simply enjoy reading about other people's projects even if I'm not going to build quite the same kind of thing. I love my Sportsmobile, but I love reading about large military truck 4x4 camper projects, too...

I'm in Seattle, WA. (I've updated my profile now.) This photo is from Punta Las Pilitas (Baja California Mexico), about as far north as you can go on the peninsula north of La Paz. This photo is from our van's 2nd day, testing it out camping at the top of Bald Mountain, by Shaver Lake...

    Books on Expedition Campers

Are there any good books out there on Expedition Campers? A quick Amazon.com search doesn't turn up much. I have Tom Sheppard's Vehicle-Dependent Expedition Guide and Off-Roader Driving books, which are excellent, but I'm thinking more about 4x4 truck-campers and vans than truck+tent...

    campsite pics..lets see um

Hi! This seems like a decent place to introduce myself. My wife and I have a 2004 Sportsmobile, built on a Ford E-series van, with the gas V-10 engine, and a Sportsmobile 4x4 conversion & pop-top. We love camping in the middle of nowhere, and avoid official campgrounds. I'm especially fond...
