I don't have a van, but the wife and I have been using a solar shower bag (I tend to just boil water to get it warm up vs. the sun) and a simple popup tent, and I'm always amazed how we can share 2 gallons of water and each get a good shower! I also recently bought a Nemo to try out...
Great video... and that you drove your TC down Gemini Bridges! :)
I drove up that with my Jeep and trailer several years ago after a lot of rain had done a number on the trail. It was fun and beautiful! Someday I can totally see having a TC and tow my Jeep.
Thanks for the review! I saw the SnoMaster at Expo East and I was impressed. I'll probably order the 42S to put in my Jeep for next spring. I've had a Coleman Xtreme cooler that's been pretty good, assuming I add a small bag of ice to it each or at least everyother day. I'm getting tired of...
Runt, I might have missed this in this thread, but could you please list the setup or options that you have with your Phoenix, including what changes you made from the first to the current camper?
Thanks
Thanks for this information. I'm curious why the Ark isn't designed to first pass power from the vehicle to the fridge while driving down the road, and then take any excess power and charge the battery? Seems like more work to have run two separate lines… one to the Ark and one to the...
I stopped by their booth at Expo East. I think the dual unit is really smart, especially if you carry meat. I just found this video on YouTube taken at the Expo showing the dual unit.

Wow… thanks for sharing your story Stefan. I was actually wondering about moisture and truck campers as I do plan to move up to one. For the first time at the recent Expo East my wife and I saw the FWC and loved them. But we live in the midwest where humidity is an issue and has to be...
I was in the audience for your vehicle review at Expo East and what an awesome you have! I too have Jeep, and eventually hope to go the same route as you and tow my Jeep. I even stopped by the local Ram dealer last week. :)
I should also mention that I was wondering around the South Dakota Black Hills about two months ago and I had my first experience of having to unhook my trailer to turn around on a tight trail at the bottom of a rocky climb out. I had headed down into a canyon, which it turned out that recently...
The Basecamp looks great in those pictures above. (Thanks!) I currently tow a box trailer with an RTT on top of it behind a two-door Jeep. I can take it about anywhere, but… we live in the midwest and there are few places to take that kind of a trailer.
The wife and I have talked about...
I'm sure I've said this before, but your setup is awesome, and your current trip sounds great!
I'm also headed to Expo East and will look forward to seeing your rig camping at the Biltmore. (I'm most excited about getting to do that too!)
I too have to say I've had my most concern about my trailer and the Jeep itself overnight in a motel parking lot.
A couple of things I do…
Park as close to the front of the hotel as possible, and under a light.
My trailer attacks attention, so other guests seem to help keep an eye on it...
I'm most excited to attend the Expo! I registered the day that it was first made available, and in fact I moved up a magazine production schedule at work in order to arrive on Friday. (I didn't tell my boss... I manage the schedule... haha.)
My junk at Lake Powell in 2014....
And last month...
