Shower solution -- cheap, simple, and effective?

I've got a 2 gallon solar bag, but either the water isn't hot enough for way too hot. So I just boil about a 1/2 gallon of water and add in the rest from a jug and it's perfect. 2 gallons is enough water for both my wife and I to use. Just get wet, soap up, wash it off. Amazing! I did have a...

Care and Maintenance of a Tepui RTT

Box Rocket... first thank you for the reply! 1) Good to know about the straps not being meant for a tight hold down. I do see what you mean about tight spots, as I see a little wear on the cover over a couple of the spots that the ladder tightly rubs against. My one issue with the velcro is...

Need a battery operated fan recommendation

^I have one of these Coleman fans and it's nice that it's small enough to hang from the top of my RTT and has several light options. However it's developed a rattle and has gotten a bit loud. :( I also have the larger Coleman, referenced on the previous page, but it's too big to hang in an RTT...

Care and Maintenance of a Tepui RTT

This is a great idea... I think I'm just going to remove the original straps and do the same. The lid of my trailer (that has the RTT bolted to) has tie down loops actually so I think I'll get these similar straps for it. In thinking further about it, I can see that keeping the cover tight will...

Care and Maintenance of a Tepui RTT

So just after returning from a two week, 3500 mile camping trip out west, and other then attending the upcoming Overland Expo East this coming October, this is wrapping up the third summer with my Tepui Ayer RTT that I have mounted on my trailer. I wanted to get some advice on care and...

Another couple of pictures: Handle folds in.

NEW XO Trailer Jack from Ark -

This Jockey Wheel is very solid and I'm very pleased with the purchase. My trailer is now super easy to move around as I can just push it. I certainly didn't trust the original lift I had as I use to pick up the tongue to move my trailer around. I also like how compressed this jockey wheel is...

    Bear Precautions and Rooftop Tents

I was originally thinking of driving through Yellowstone this summer and camping outside the tourists traps, until one place specifically said no tents (my Tepui is on my trailer), and another had even closed down to hard sided trailers due to the bears. As a kid I did a lot of camping in...

Stolen Rooftop Tent - Keep your eyes out please

I'd totally lock down an RTT better on a roof rack. My Tepui is bolted to my trailer's lid so I'd probably lose my whole trailer. In fact I've been thinking about getting a GPS tracker for my trailer. Amazon has several, one that has a month to month $25 service. It's suppose to email or text...

    New Stove from Jetboil

The skillet is ceramic coated like Magma. I have a Magma set, which is nice, but the JetBoil skillet is lighter, and I like the handle better on the JetBoil. (Lighter and it folds around the pan when stored rather then comes off.)

    New Stove from Jetboil

No kidding... the skillet rocks! I told JetBoil to make more pans! I have a two week trip in a month from now that I'll further break mine in on.

The Reality of Handling Trailers in the Back Woods

Several years ago I was on Drummond Island (Michigan U.P.) which the east side is very remote. I took a wrong turn and was on a very narrow trail that went through a marsh and then into tight woods (and as I noticed later on a map, it dead ended at the woods). The trail was mostly covered with...

The Reality of Handling Trailers in the Back Woods

Awesome post! Thanks for sharing your tips. I have a Jockey wheel myself and have considering having to winch my trailer to my Jeep. Haven't had to do that yet... Oh, and I'll also mention scouting ahead is worth a lot. Just with my Jeep, I have on a "few" occasions walked ahead to...

    Recycling and filtering shower water.

That's impressive limited water usage! My wife and I travel with a solar shower and we can split 2 gallons and have decent showers. If you had asked me that before, I wouldn't have thought that it was possible.

    Trailer vs. Roof

Ha ha! I'm with you on the stroke it, as I've thought about it! Banks Power also has a new turbo kit for my Jeep. :) An off-road styled teardrop would be nice. I like the idea of one, in fact I kind of fell in love with the CampInn teardrops before my trailer, which they even make an SUV...

    Happier Camper Trailer

It needs a lift, but cool like Legos! I always wonder about these unique little trailer builds and how long the builder lasts? Someone's dream to make the ultimate trailer! Indeed cool.

    Trailer vs. Roof

I have no experience with an RTT on top of a vehicle, but I wouldn't think that your MPG for one would improve with an RTT on the top vs. towing a trailer. But who cares about MPG?! :) I'm actually in a similar situation as my trailer is 1100#s loaded, and my lifted Jeep TJ is also not meant to...
