A lot less cutting in and around to make the bumpout back work for sure...

Someone did what I am trying to do! Foamie cap / camper on a full sizer...

Agreed, however, in my experience, and I may be wrong here, but fiberglass / epoxy resin, or poly resin are not big fans of holding screws. I am planning on installing a residential style door lock and mortising into wood should be MUCH simpler than fiberglassing. And yes, I would likely...

My F150 has the 5.4L 3V Triton I am going through, new Melling pump, upgrading to later model VCT system components hot tanking etc... It is going slow. Once the repower is done, I need to redo the actuators for the rear doors, but I am doing the build, slowly in the mean time. I am building out...

Someone did what I am trying to do! Foamie cap / camper on a full sizer...

Awesome. that is another set of links to the same project. The fact that he published on Vimeo, which I find usually only commercial music videos on, is why I hadn't seen this project before now. Just FWIW, I have zero intent on going with carbon fiber. Too expensive, although it does hit the...

Propane quick disconnect and 20Lb tank

Looks like you have the idea in general. If you are going to move item position to position, yeah I would NOT use QDs, but if you have a specific mount point for the gasland, just use the regulator / hose with a QD so you can connect / discoonect the shower for transit.

33's on Silverado with 2" Level Kit, Possible???

You are completely right, and I mistyped. I meant 33x11.5, or 285/70R17 assuming 17" rims. HOWEVER I will say, my '04 F150 with a Rancho Quicklift (2.5 level) and Moog HD springs since the Rancho are just too soft, and a "California Trim" fits 35x12.50/17 on 17x9 Pro Comps, full compression...

33's on Silverado with 2" Level Kit, Possible???

You may want to check with the folks on the Chevy Truck forums, but to my knowledge, all full size half ton 4x4 pickups should fit 33x12.5 size tires with no lift, and would have room to spare with a level. HOWEVER I do not pay much attention to GMs, and you did not mention that I noticed, if...

I am building onto an '04 F150 XLT 4x4 supercab with a 6.5 foot box. Not a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. Budget won't allow for that, and my wife insists on a king size bed so my options are DIY, or DIY. I have considered pulling the truck bed and replacing it with a flatbed and doing a DIY flatbed...

Ford SOHC 4.0 V6 engine RE: Timing Shenanigans

After seeing that setup, I can now honestly say I feel good about the timing chain / VCT setup on my '04 F150 5.4L 3V! Yeah funky engineering, but if it works, whatever... since the engine is out, might as well do bearings, rings etc... No sense in stabbing it back with a worn long block...

    GMRS antenna on smaller vehicles

On my now long gone CJ7, the 102" whip was mounted on a spring, and a ProComm stud mount through a purpose built antenna bracket / spare tire stop from one of the big Jeep shops. Probably Quadratec. Obviously quite directional, but man the RX/TX was awesome with that setup as the SWR would dial...

Someone did what I am trying to do! Foamie cap / camper on a full sizer...

I finally found someone doing what i am trying to do. Admittedly he has a, uh extension instead of a tailgate, but you get the idea... I need to watch the whole thing, but you see how he is extending the cap over the area where the tailgate would have been?

Advantages of ground tents over camping in your vehicle.

Interesting. I have a 10x20 3 room modified dome tent that my wife loves, she digs LOTS of interior space. I have never had any issues with finding a large enough space for even that monstrosity. Generally speaking, I have the 10x14, a 13x13 EZ Up, and a Joolca Ensuite double. That makes a big...

Advantages of ground tents over camping in your vehicle.

Honestly, if there were higher quality standing room instant set tents, with a 10x10-ish footprint, I would be all over that. The Coleman Darkroom 6 is a 10x10 instant set but the sides and ceiling slope so bad that standing room is only in the center, and honestly quality on those specific...

Advantages of ground tents over camping in your vehicle.

Not gonna lie. I REALLY want to finish up my camper shell build, but due to my wife I have to have a king bed, so I have to build a custom wide shell... What, other than budget, is keeping me from going full tilt into the build is my ground tent / camping gear. My requirements for camping...

    F150 - Gas vs Diesel

Yes, the F150 is smaller than a super duty, but not by enough to matter. If you want something to fit tighter trails than a full size pickup will fit on, look into a Jeep Wrangler or other small SUV.

    CB comparison

Totally get that, nothing new under the sun here. I've used the controls on the mic models (Cobra 75 WX ST) in the past and they do work, and are space efficient, but having all the controls tied up into the mic, and that coil cord IMHO is asking for reliability issues. YMMV of course and I know...

    CB comparison

One major caveat. It has been probably 20 years since I paid any attention whatsoever to those units that have the controls in the microphone. HOWEVER I personally wouldn't own one. Typically speaking there are too many things going on in too small of a space. I prefer a main unit with the...
