I built one with a 5 gallon bucket, plenty of 2" holes drilled around the top portion of bucket as to not limit water capacity too much, some blue evaporative cooler pads, a Harbor Freight 12v water pump with a drip ring (tube with holes poked in it), and a 4" 12v inline bilge fan (Attwood)...
Any up close pics of how you pulled off the tilt and latching of the panel? I'd greatly benefit from doing something similar to you but can't wrap my brain around the hardware involved. It'd also help me to be able to stash things underneath the panels, something I currently cannot do...
I think a fan pulling is more efficient than pushing,
what are you going to be venting out of / through? A hole you cut?
I added visors to my windows and leave them cracked year round. Can't even tell from the outside and I feel it helps with the fridge in the summer.
When I'm camping the...
I set up dozens of internal use hotspots in Colorado for the state, many in rural parks. These were all Verizon jetpacks with external antenna ports in ~2012.
Most of these spots had pretty flaky cell reception so I'd pair them with either an omnidirectional cheap magnetic antenna or a...
Robert's Sales seems to have a good reputation and they were incredibly helpful when I was asking questions about modifying my popup despite not buying it from them.
I'm going to have them install the actual brakes on my 8' pop up as it didn't come with any, but planning on doing the brake...
Oops, things I never updated: my vehicle profile, my actual profile. Been in Denver for 3 years, Ram ecodiesel gone, 4runner still kicking. It's a 99. I've yet to make a build thread on here, but...
2 x 100w Renogy panels on roof, 100w HQST flexible
Unfortunately the two renogys were about a half an inch too wide to sit between the sides of the basket, meaning instead of riding flush with the top of the basket they're an inch and a half above. Bummer. Not worth forking out the money for...
Mine has also has a metallic clink rattling to it, since I got it new ~1.5 yrs ago. Thankfully in the back of my 4runner and I can't hear anything above 30mph courtesy of wind noise.
Thank you!
Built this today. Ordered everything from eztube.com but still need to buy, cut, carpet, and attach some 1/2" plywood as well as grab on to the factory tie downs. Easy as hell.
I used the metal fittings for everything but the two feet L angles closest to the front of the vehicle...
I camp in the winter at ~8500ft and basically do the same thing as I always do - bring way too much crap. In the summer I can easily walk a mile or two to a nearby cabin, but I noticed today shooting up there that every single 'residence' was boarded up or completely unplowed, and no tire...
Lish, not familiar with the 2nd gen 4runners, but I passed 12 gauge low voltage landscape wiring through the boot thing in the lift gate, that has power going to the 3rd brake light. After the boot it shoots out up on to the roof for ~3" before being zip tied to my roof rack. Pretty...
My thought is that you won't be in the truck bed sleeping when it's charging significantly, unless you're sleeping til noon. And even then... PNW. Snow. Overcast. If your sleeping platform is really low or you do some crude measurements and determine that a battery of your liking would fit...
I would get a 105ah group 31 deep cycle - batteriesplus has this by Duracell on sale for $90 after coupon. Stash that under your sleeping platform. Get a cheap $5 fuse block (or a fancy blue sea one) and run 8 gauge to it. A cheap amp wiring kit would cost less than buying a spool of 8 gauge...
Dat rack doe :ylsmoke: I use mine all the time, meaning it pisses me off...all the time. Sorry to be a copy cat, but I'm gonna investigate this further
I have 7 of these in total, 2 dedicated for camping...
The 4 in my back yard are dim light until triggered and last until morning, even in the winter. Even in snow storms in the winter when they're frequently triggering. One on my garage is off until triggered.
14500 battery, replaceable...
Reviving an old thread to vent about the stupidity that just ensued.
After letting my 62DZ sit in my basement on AC for the winter, serving up cold beer in my office, I decided to move it back in to my rig (now 4runner, Ecodiesel RAM lemoned out after 11 months of fighting).
Setup for the last...
Wow, good turn out from this thread. Thanks for all suggestions - happy to know others are comfortable using lighter duty stuff. I'm having a duh moment right now... definitely knew that I could just go softer/lighter on the insulation and get quality non-CCA wire. Must have been me just...
I've come to realize that I absolutely loathe the standard solar cable marketed all over the place and typically attached on the back of panels. I understand the UV resistance benefit, but it doesn't seem as important when you ground deploy panels a handful of times per year. They're hard to...
