Tapping the Gas Tank on a RAM HD

I installed a Espar B4 (ie, gas model) on our Ford Transit via the aux fuel input, used it for many years in Alaska trouble free. The "kit" that I purchased from Espar came with a dip tube to install into a tank.....I just didn't need it because I used the aux instead. So, if your tank doesn't...

    Earthroamer SX

Given the super singles, seems likely you are right about it being a 4500 or 5500. But with the tire on a carrier instead of integrated into the composite, this is definitely a different build.

Rossmonster Baja new video - side entry also

We've been watching these guys..... Their website profiles the regular bed, rear entry, but they debuted the 8' bed, side entry this spring. Since then, it seems like they have sold a bunch of the side entry models. I'm sure costs have gone up, but in May at Overland Expo it was around...

    Earthroamer SX

Not huge on the Chevy platform....but if they are offering something smaller that would be amazing. Love the way their stuff looks, but when you start at an LTI and only get larger from there....its just too big for many people.

Garmin InReach Messenger Expands Availability of Sat Coms?

According to this article: Every serious hiker should have something like a Garmin InReach Mini 2 (androidauthority.com) ....the fact that you need to text folks first is a "feature" which makes it so that random numbers can't text you (and then you are stuck with the bill). Or in my case so...

Garmin InReach Messenger Expands Availability of Sat Coms?

Looks like the things that make this unique are: 1) Lower entry price point than an inReach/Mini ($299 vs. $399) 2) Automatic switching from cellular to satellite, depending on connectivity 3) longer battery life than an inReach Mini, plus reverse charging of your phone in a pinch (My phone...

    Lowa Boots A+++

Also of note, we were recently shopping for boots for hiking that we could also use on our large lot thinning project (ie, chainsawing & moving lots of wood)....and also comply with NPS and FS uniform regulations (both of us are Feds here). The Baffins came up because they are used extensively...

    Global Expedition Vehicles Adventure Truck

Would love a review or your thoughts (and a description of your current use...full time, weekender, etc). These trucks always looks nice in photographs, but there isn't a lot of information out there from people actually using them....

3.5 or 3.7 for a full sized transit van?

3.5 is great to drive, plenty of power even with an outfitted van/highroof. Pretty sure the 3.7 & the 3.5 get similar gas mileage, so really: more power, better resale value with the 3.5.

Looking for ideas for building a vehicle for winter arctic travel.

I don't have many facts for you (not an electrical whiz either), but I do have a lot of winter in Alaska experience, so some thoughts. 1) I would imagine that it would take a lot of storage capacity to power heat pads (which tend to be power-hogs) for 48 hours. Probably more battery than is...

    ARB Awning on Provan Tiger

We've got a Tiger TX with the Fiamma. FYI, the mount for the Fiamma is through the body of the Tiger, IE, I can open a cabinet up & see the backer plate for the awning. Would it be too low if you mounted a shorter length awning below the level of the dinette windows? I've noticed that many...

    Receiver Shackle Advice Please

I think one of the considerations of a Factor55 vs. a Reese/Curt is steel vs. Aluminum with regards to weight. A quick look is that Factor 55 is 2lbs (aluminum) vs. 10.5 lbs steel for a Curt one. Some folks may have a rig that is already pushing the boundaries of weight, so paying the extra...

    Provan Tiger Bengal Thread

Also, the Tiger Owner's Forum (and the classifieds here) are helpful. Basically, there are so few of these, and many people buy & hold on to them. So, when a used one hits the market, it gets posted to the Owner's Forum, and generally folks chime in if there is any prior sales & history...

    How to wire electrical

The guide at Far Out Ride is a pretty good start. They take donations for a complete wiring diagram, and it's well worth the $20 or whatever. We modeled our van build pretty close to this setup. If you wire a whole vehicle, by the time you finish you'll have a pretty good idea of what is going...

    *SOLD* 2010 Tiger Bengal - $94k

The Bengal comes in a TX & CX. This poster hasn't specified (and the photos are tiny), but I think this looks like a TX to me (?) Unfortunetly, according to TravelingTortugas, the bed size/height is identical in both the TX & CX.
