2021 Ford F250 Tremor Adventure Rig

I assume that it is a dual stabilizer? If so, it should be compatible with a PMF draglink that I read about on another forum. It sounds like a very good improvement in steering for the price. Compatability issues outlined on the PMF website: "Since the entire bar spins when adjusted, it cannot...

    F350 or F450 or F550

Ford Chassis cabs are fully boxed and same as the Super Duty in section under the cab then a C channel is bolted and welded for the aft section at the standard width for commercial upfitter flatbeds, ect. That is a little narrower than the Super Duty and without the rise over the rear axle. I...

The new 7.3 - how is it

In my experience, wind resistance at speed can have a more significant effect on mileage than weight and the FWC obviously extends above the cab about the same as most pop ups. Plus the additional rotational mass of larger tires, I think 10-11 mpg isn’t too bad. My camper will stick up a little...

The new 7.3 - how is it

I think the time of year in some locations matters too. More emission additives in the summer in California I think? Edit: apparently the summer fuel is slightly better but more expensive. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15339380/the-vapor-rub-summer-versus-winter-gasoline-explained/

    Not another Ram 5500 build

Wow, impressive. Did you start with a 2012 because of availability or is that a good year for emissions or some other reason?

    Traction pad, (Paddle board style)

Yes, I got mine on Amazon, cut to size. They come in lots of colors too, but I decided to stay boring. I would say that under heavy use with boots walking on them, they might not hold up more than a season or 2. I'll try to update after they have had some use.

    Traction pad, (Paddle board style)

I ordered some traction pads with 3M adhesive backing to use on folding stairs and other miscellaneous parts of my truck and camper. I don't know how well it will hold up on the stairs but it is almost weightless and will allow my dog to climb them without slipping on raw aluminum. I don't have...

The new 7.3 - how is it

I’m picking up a pop up camper in early November that will weigh about 2700 loaded. Unfortunately it has been delayed from supply shortages. Once I get it, I will be driving several thousand miles right away on a 3 week vacation and will post mpg numbers.

The new 7.3 - how is it

I had a 2010 Tundra with crew cab for about 5 years. I never saw 18 mpg, even highway. I'm guessing that I am seeing 2-3 mpg less in my F350 than my Tundra the way I drive in similar terrain. I'm guessing with a load or towing, that difference would narrow to pretty much nothing. I bought the...

Best way to raise up slide-in camper?

My advice is probably worth what you paid for it but I would go with foam to save weight. Manufacturers, (at least northern lite) recommend plywood but I have heard people using horse mats too. I just think that in your situation, they are too heavy so I would go with foam.

Best way to raise up slide-in camper?

The advice above is pretty standard across forums and manufacturer recommendations. Considering you have a 1st generation Tundra, I'm guessing you are already overweight so I would look for light weight solutions. I would use foam and maybe add more if it compresses. Maybe look at home depot and...

The new 7.3 - how is it

Mine isn't broken in yet but I have seen about 14-15 flat highway with 1200 lbs in the bed below the roofline. Maybe 11 city unloaded. Single rear wheel F350, short bed, FX4, 3.73 diff, Crew cab. Seems to have plenty of power. So far so good but don't expect groundbreaking mpg.

Thank you! Yes, with black appearance package. Still waiting on a camper though.

    2021 F150 vs F250

I have a 2021 F350 crew cab short bed with the 7.3 and it weighs almost exactly 7,000 lbs empty, (weighed at the local feed store). It has a max GVWR of 11,300 and the door sticker says not to exceed 3,877 cargo plus pax. I'm not sure why there is a discrepancy. I belive an equivalent F250...

    2021 F150 vs F250

I will add that the F250 payload is limited by the door sticker to keep it under commercial max GVWR for tax reasons or something. If you look at an equivalent F350 capacity, that reflects the robustness of a super duty which is substantial compared to the F150. Also, I have driven both back to...

Suggestions on lowering tailgate a tiny bit?

If you raise the slider system, will the ARB clear the tonneau? If so, that seems like the most elegant solution. If you lower the tailgate by modification, it seems like you might lose support strength and it wouldn't be level with the bed. I don't know how valuable a narrow gap above your...

    Best Platform

This has been a common theme I have seen. Ford Super Duties and Broncos for example are selling at up to 15K over MSRP off the dealer floor but if you are willing to wait for a factory order you can get MSRP minus any discounts you are eligible for. Hopefully that is a sign that much of the...

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

And my F350 was basically free as part of my subscription to Ford Pass. :p

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

I'm not saying an overland rig is a good investment but my limited research on sailboats told me that they are even bigger money pits, no? You don't have to rent a slip or pay a diver to scrape barnacles off a truck.

    Best Platform

I agree that I don't have enough mileage to give reliable numbers but you misunderstand my reference to 10 miles. That was the mileage on the truck when I started counting mpg so it was not broken in at all. I imagine I will see something close to 11 as it does break in.
