Following on from this, I'm editing a book based on our road trips with pups. Here's the link for more info -

Those are great photos though, thanks for the ideas. I'll let you know what I end up doing. I'm back and forth, which vehicle, how to set myself up, stuff like that, but the process is part of the enjoyment for me!

Yes but he wasn't exactly forthcoming or helpful when I called. It kind of left me with a bad taste in my mouth, like he didn't want to touch it. Strange phone call to say the least. I would rather avoid having to go there if I can to be honest.
NO steering damper but new tie rod ends. Will he know what you mean with "swivel ball preload" or are there other terms too? He's a classic vehicle long term mechanic but not a rover specialist. I spoke to the other guys I go to, a shop in Alb but Rob didn't seem worried about me driving after I...
Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated. I just had a phonecall from my mechanic who is stumped and worried enough that he doesn't want me driving the Series until we know what's really going on.
A took Shorty for a 100 mile drive on county roads, after 50 0r 60 miles when turning right onto...
So I won't be in the Series - it's at the mechanic and there's no clean bill of health in sight. Steering, axle, leafsprings and who knows what else needs to be taken care of after a case of the Death Wobble. My mechanic doesn't want me driving it until we know what's really going on. See you at...
Okay, so after checking it out more, this 1947 needed more work than I could face but I'm looking around for another. I'll let you know if I find anything, thanks for helping.
Its not quite Greenlaning, that's for sure. I think I like that my Series trundles along gravel roads and that's all I ask! I have to say the photos are impressive though.
Shall do but the camera broke last week but I will post what I can as soon as possible. Maybe I'll get my neighbor over this weekend and upload some. Thanks for the quick responses though,

Hey folks, I"m new to trailers but am getting a 1947 Teardrop and want to take it with me into bear country! I camp in the mountains around NM/ CO and AZ mostly and the truck is too small for me and three dogs for more than a few days at a time. I mostly drive unpaved 2WD roads, NF ones, and...

I'm looking forward to checking the tents out at Expo. I love the idea of them but not yet seen one in person nor tried one out. Will you have different kinds at the show? I'm torn between the Ayer because it's small or looking for a hard shell kind for ease of opening and setting up in wind.

No the hub spanner and yes to the grease and u-joints! The electric under the dash caught on fire in Pagosa Springs one year, oh the same year the clutch went out on the pass north of Durango, and has since been sorted. I've poked around the rest and it looked fine but I'll ask my mechanic...
I just read more of Ray's planned trip to Malaysia in a Series I and am even more inspired to fix mine up. I think I want to replace the brakes and the steering next. IF this was you taking the national forest roads of the US with three dogs and a ground tent, what would you change?
I also...
I bought a 1972 SIII three years ago from a friend of mine. It's had three owners in NM and before that came from UK in 2010 ish. You know the story, these 40 year old vehicles are not the most reliable and I've had my fair share of breakdowns in the last three years. To the point where I'm...
