Recently I decided to get back on the saddle in an attempt to regain some level of physical fitness and to show my first born how much fun can be had on two wheels. Enter the Surly Ogre. I picked up my new ride in March (2015) and so begins this new chapter.

An Ogre on an Ogre
Drumroll please... Enter the OGRE
And then the Ogre on the Ogre!
Everything seems to line up where it should. Just wish I had more seatpost showin'. Damn short legs. :bike_rider:

So I may be a little bummed. I'm enjoying my Ogre but have made a few disappointing discoveries. First - my saddle rails are only about 4.25 inches from the top tube. Makes me feel like I should have gotten a medium for the following reasons.
1- I wanted to run a thud buster seatpost and...
A decent saddle is definitely in my future. I was strongly considering a Brooks Cambium but am currently leaning towards a Rivet Pearl. Still think the extra padding will come in handy until things soften up...
I got an Ogre. Picked her up today from a LBS I used to race for. Added some Schwalbe Mondials and will be picking up some Ergon G1s and platform pedals shortly. Can't wait to get the kiddo on the road.:roost:
I need software that I can use to plan offroad/backcountry travel in the Pacific Northwest. Something I can mark/plan routes with that will give me mileage, elevation gain/loss etc. Has to cover forest service roads.
I have a Mac and ipad mini that I will be utilizing. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Ok so I still can't find an Ogre or Fargo in my size to demo. Science this could be my first on road MTB I'm hoping someone could give me an idea how much more drag they would have over say a long haul trucker. I don't want to rip around at highway speeds but would it be reasonable to expect...
Short answer is no, I'm not sure.
I really enjoyed the simplicity of my San Jose. It was a breath of fresh air from my "race bike" and something I quite enjoyed riding on the flats. The rider position has just gotten too uncomfortable now that I'm fat and I need gears to climb all of these...
I'm a recovering roadie who needs a new ride. I'm 6' 240lbs and riding my road bike or San Jose fixie just isn't comfortable anymore. I want to get back on the road and enjoy this amazing weather (sorry to my East coast friends) we're having. I think I've decided on a Fargo or Ogre but there...
I need help with sharpening. I try but never seem to get it right and I'm tired of damaging nice knives. My current project is an Enzo Birk folder with S30V and a scandi grind. My goal is to have a shaving sharp, mirror polished blade. I have tried using a sharpening kit I picked up here. I...
