Unfortunately no. That's a long haul from Utah.

I'm scared; transistion from 06' taco to 100 series, counsel me.

So strange that the 2000 LX insurance is so much cheaper. They are essentially identical, and if anything there are more parts prone to failure and needing to be fixed on the LX if you consider the AHC system. Sounds to me like you need to shop around on the insurance.

Congrats. Sounds like a decent price. Now post up pics.

The steering shouldn't be too loose. Could be a sign of worn TRE's and/or trunion bearings etc. But you'll address some of that when you service the front axle. As for the brakes, the 80 series brakes are like stomping on a block of wood against the wheel hub compared to newer vehicles. Not...

I would expect that the PHH has not been replaced. Fortunately its a cheap repair and just a bit of hassle since it's somewhat hard to get to. Again, lots of info out there on replacing that if you want to tackle it yourself. Sounds to me like it's not been neglected. If the price is good...

    UCE3 - Utah Cruiser Expedition 3

The FJ would be in a different class since it's a smaller vehicle. Canguro races the Stock Fullsize class. At last year's Baja 1000 we raced against the Toyota factory TRD Pro Tundra, Rod Hall racing in their Hummer H1, a Ford F150, and a couple others. The Cruiser that we race was built by...

    ExPo 80 Series Registry

This is a difficult question to give an accurate answer to since there are so many factors to long term reliability of these (or any vehicle). If you find one that has been well cared for and routine maintenance has been consistent, then you can generally expect excellent reliability. If it's...

Thanks. 8155 is in fact race team numbers. I have been part of the chase team. But I will be co-driving part of the Baja 1000 this year. Dave not only chases but is a consistent fixture on the driving team. The team is Canguro Racing and the race vehicle is a 200 series Land Cruiser.

    re-gearing for 33"s on 1st gen

I'm going to assume that the supercharger comments are a joke but in case they're not, whoever is telling you that you need one for wheeling is full of crap. Not even remotely necessary.

    re-gearing for 33"s on 1st gen

It's the same situation with my 80 series LC. I have owned an 80 since 2000 and they've always had 35" tires and stock gears. I daily drive and wheel the piss out of them and the gearing has never been a problem. The 80 will lose speed on canyon climbs far more dramatically than the Tacoma...

    re-gearing for 33"s on 1st gen

I don't lug around in low rpms. When the rpms drop, the tranny down shifts, that's how the tranny works. I'm not trying to be snarky, I just never had any issues with it.

    re-gearing for 33"s on 1st gen

Where I live is not much different than where you live. Similar altitude with lots of canyon roads here in Utah. I turn off the OD a lot too, that's what it's for. If Toyota didn't want you to turn it off, they wouldn't have put the button there. No big deal. Like I said before, I'm not...

    re-gearing for 33"s on 1st gen

I know I'm in the minority but I never regeared my '03 DC auto with 33's. Never felt the need. I'm sure there was a slight power loss and the shift points were off a little but.....who cares? It really didn't change the driveability of the truck much at all IMO. It never kept me for being...

    100 roof rack builds??

I'm not trying to deter anyone from building their own but just showing an option that out there and pointing out some considerations to think about. If you feel you can build what you want and more importantly do it for less, then by all means I support that. There's more than one way to skin...

    100 roof rack builds??

Just so you guys are aware, Prinsu Design is working on a new rack that should work for both the 100/200 series Cruisers. I have one of their 80 series racks and LOVE IT. All aluminum and super light but incredibly strong. I am personally not a fan of the basket style racks and prefer lower...

I'm scared; transistion from 06' taco to 100 series, counsel me.

I think you have very little to worry about as long as you don't purchase a vehicle that has been neglected or abused. The 4.7L V8 is a great motor and I can't say I've ever heard of a transmission taking a dump on one of those trucks. They are awesome family rigs! I'm an 80 series guy but my...
