Ram 2500 06 Mega Cab Build

Hallmark should be great, sometimes wish we went with a foam insulated camper, lots of heat loss in the winter. We put the Engle in the camper, 1 night with it so far seem quiet enough, power draw is not too bad been monitoring with battery monitor, hoping we can get 2.5 days on battery without...

    FWC Shell or Habitat

We went with a FWC Hawk Shell with a side dinette. Some Pros: quick setup and take down. Heating works fairly well, we use it for ice climbing or skiing (although it is not perfect, there is certainly some moister management). We find ourselves popping it up at trail heads to change and setup...

FWC Flatbed - 6.5 or 8 ft truck?

I have a hawk shell on a flatbed (6.5), and have put boxes where the side rails would be, have not added the under tray boxes. I love having extra storage on the outside, I would think having a storage box behind the cab and in front of the camper would be great. Love to store a table, portable...

New Overland Explorer Expedition Vehicles Composite Pop-Up Truck Camper

Agree on the flatbed option, a 7.5 foot with dinette in the back would be cool

First Trip in an Overland Explorer Camp X

nice camper. As a Hawk shell owner and winter camper I definitely appreciate the thermal design they have. I really like how they brace all the corners, amazing. Question on the roof hatch, is that a requirement for an emergency exit? Does it get in the way of solar panel mounting?

New Alaskan side entry flatbed 8.5' build!!

New Alaskan side entry flatbed 8.5' build!!

@ncalies , we just ordered a thermal pack for the camper so hope that improves things. Generally condensation is a problem due to the aluminum. it is warm enough and a have camped for awhile in single digit temps. We have not been diligent about having a vent open when we sleep so going to try...

New Alaskan side entry flatbed 8.5' build!!

Love the camper. Would like to hear about how it manages for winter camping if you do any? Temperature , Condensation and snow load? Have you stealth camped in it, looks like you can get away with it with that layout. How is it having the stove right next to the bed? We have a fourwheel hawk and...

Late Model 5.9L Common Rail Reliability

I have an 06 , upgraded the transmission and put a smarty on it. 160k on mine, most by previous owner. I have had a few issues. Transmission, auto, there is an issue where the coolant can flow into the transmission and kill it, that was expensive. Had an issue with my AC (sounds like the same...

Ram 2500 06 Mega Cab Build

I love the bumper, it is heavy and a bit overkill, but I think it is cool and provides a number of options for mounting light bar etc. I upgraded the suspension , added a bunch of weight to the front. I am sure some would advise that it is better to minimize the weight that far in front of the axle.

Ram 2500 06 Mega Cab Build

strangely one HID stays on when i turn off the truck, there is only one relay in the kit and direct wire to the power, so you would think both would stay on, I am going to put a cutoff switch under the hood as a temp solution, may need to wire something to the cab if I can't sort out. Not sure...
