My friend was thinking of working on his to camp in the summer at race locations (triathlon and bike) since you can run the AC all night and the car will turn on/off as needed. He never got around to it since he also has a Cowboy Camper on the back of a Dodge 3500 with AC and a generator ; )
I talked to Mario at Expo East and that was his suggestion (as I understood it) - the top has a square tube covered in fiberglass. He suggested drilling below the tube, rather than through it and using a long backing plate to spread the weight/pinch point....

I think the reflective tape is put there by hunters, to help them find their hunt area in the dark (with lights of course) - I see it a lot of night mtn bike rides too.
Casejeep, I am not Dave, but what I have done down to teens. A moving blanket from HF under the sleeping bags. I just added a memory foam pad from Walmart under the sleet that I like too. I added some foam pads on the sides when really cold to keep me from rolling into the cold tent ; )

I had a '98 Rav4 and think it would be fine! I also had a '98 4Runner and would pick the 4Runner first. If you go the Rav4 route, and choose a manual transmission, pay attention to the 5th gear. There is a problem where that wears out. Otherwise, ours was trouble free!
The height of the truck 7 feett added to the length of the top (80 inches?) plus 2 or 3 feet to give you walk to the other side while "flipping" minus your height. That is just a suggestion, someone who has done this, please chime in!
