The M~D~U Report: A Thousand Miles of Dirt in Utah

I just know that friends that live there always have a head wind when they drive down here to visit family and a head wind while they are driving back to Buffalo. A friend was riding his 185 Suzuki out to CA and then on to AK. He could only do about 35 MPH on I 80 due to the wind. Gave up and...

Back when I worked in a tire shop we had 5 gallon buckets filled with valve caps and wheel weights. It took 2 people to pick them up. At least we could make lots of weights for fishing from the lead.

    Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail 2016

Great write up. I would have been there scratching the dog. It must have taken some time to put that post together.

One thing about rattle wrenches is that they have different torque depending on which way they turn. It doesn't really matter as they can easily over torque a Fuso lug nut. Back to why I do my own wheel work.

I've seen the video before and given where the battery box and waste storage tanks are on mine, It wouldn't work so I went at it with a hammer to break up that nice piece of granite, Silver Plume Granite as I recall. I thought about saving it but why? it went over the ditch. It would have been...

    JK Service Manual

I learned around 40 years ago that a FSM is the only way to go. A lot may be BS but it has good stuff for bearing clearances and such that actually apply to your vehicle.

    Roam About with "Big Hank"

It looks like you will be traveling just North of my house. Stop in and I will find Petey a good bone to gnaw on. You can have one as well if you want one. Park in my yard, plug in for power and you can use whatever you need. You wouldn't be the first person to camp in my yard.

    My Journey

Nice write up. Jerry you are a great person and it looks like Mex has found a good human companion. It is hard to give up a dog you love. My mother decided that my Black Lab was hers. My father loved her as well. You don't argue with your mother and even if I was always referred to as Samantha's...

[YEAR 7!] Quit our jobs, sold our home, gone riding...

I sort of irritated a doctor that wanted me to build some columns during a house remodel. He didn't know what he wanted and could barely draw his vision. (Ionic). The fact that I could name the 3 main styles didn't endear me to him.

    JK Service Manual

Yeah, get a real manual. I got a Haynes manual for my Volvo and it is full of information for too many models and most of it is wrong. As said on other forums, they are better used as a door stop.

As always a great write up from both of you and I can tell you the style of all of the columns. A lot of us live on the road with you even if we aren't there.

I've run trucks with duals for over 40 years and only had a problem once with a rock stuck between them. I admit they can be a bit strange on an ice/snow covered dirt roads but given the price, I'm not changing.

I'm not going to speak about touching your nuts. Never did it, never will. My favorite tire shop understands that I know as much about tires as they do and they have no problem with me out in the shop. If I drive in with one of my Jeeps I end up talking with a shop guy for several minutes about...

    99 FG Brake fluid leak

Carpet in a Mitso? Ok, other than adjustments I have never had brake issues since 1998 in mine. Factory brakes are still on it.

I used to work in a tire shop as I said and we had some lug nuts the small rattle wrench wouldn't take off so back to the large 4 way. I twisted off 2 studs on the front wheel of the truck. My brother and neighbor decided to help me change wheels on my Jeep. Mike has a battery powered impact...

My closest tire shop had already screwed up the lug nuts and studs on my rig. At least they paid for what they screwed up but they wouldn't pay me to fix it. Sorry, I know what sort of work you do so I did it myself. The next time I went in for a tire rotation I went to the next shop down the...

tires tires tires you have all heard this before

Apples and oranges maybe as my old Jeep is probably lighter than yours and my KS tires are probably an older generation so we get back to what you are running for tire pressure? I run up to 22 psi on the highway or when I tow it. Around 18 psi in town and around 12 psi or less when off road. No...

    My Journey

Good for you Jerry. Around 50 years ago I picked my Black Lab pup out of the crib full of happy little faces with waggely tails because I could see that her right foreleg had been broken. The best dog I have ever had for a companion. I hope you figure out the leg, OK, legs bit and there are some...
