Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

After sleeping on it I remembered that for stiffening a boat hull you can glass in fiberglass/foam beams. You can either do it DIY or use prefab ones like Prisma Composites Preform Beams - Boat Builder Central . Pretty sure building in a limited grid of these beams, filling that gaps with foam...

Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

Slow progress but I have found a source for my window pane and I can even get a roller blind included! I am awaiting the response for the KCT lockset but once that happens I will have all my parts lined up and I can start ordering. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Luckily I have...

Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

I have also checked with a friend that builds high performance semi custom power catamarans. They make a very nice door but is the wrong size. With complete composite doors the mold is the time consuming expensive part. As far as pre-made pultrusions I have searched high and low for what seems...

Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

Hey Andreas, any thoughts on how to minimize the chance of warping? I molded a hardtop dodger for our sailboat out of grid scored divinycell, epoxy and fiberglass using a Masonite mold fixed to the previous fabric dodger frame. It did have a curve in it but it never warped (or delaminated) even...

Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

It seems that I have exhausted my options for getting an off the shelf (sort of as they all seem to be built by order, but in standard sizes) composite entry door. Our door cutout and interior cabinets leave too little space for a standard size. GXV won't make a door. So I am now back to...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

We just returned from 4 days of tent camping at Katmai National Park. This place is famous for being able to get up close to grizzly bears feeding on salmon as they swim up a river and jump the falls. Although it rained most of the time it was still an incredible experience. And as a side...

Yup, been keeping an eye on that. Just got a very interesting quote from Motorcraft. It is in pounds, but the dollar has gained on that currency also.

Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

Looking at the dimensions and the current hole we already have, plus the interior cabinetry I don't think an Outbound door will fit very well. I'll do some more measuring but I am not super hopeful. They are also 6-7 months out for delivery. We were hoping to be on a ship to South America then...

Dedicated Starlink and mobile 4/5G thread

Not sure if you have all seen this Starlink for Overlanders - Tucks' Travels in a Truck (tuckstruck.net) We met up with Marcus and Julie here in Alaska. And yes, Marcus has some skills when it comes to technical topics. Even down to designing a new controller for his 4x4 system in his Iveco...

    MB 917a manual

Full app server and windows virtual machine. Essentially Mercedes techs log into a central site for the epc/wis and the rest is web based. Running Java. Bit old school but it works. Someone pulled all that together and runs it under VMware, not sure how to make it any better though.

    MB 917a manual

Take a look on eBay for Mercedes EPC/WIS (electronic parts catalog/workshop manual). Look for a digital download. It will run in a VMWare virtual machine, so a bit goofy but that is how Mercedes does it.

Thanks @Victorian, I'll take a look. Not sure this will work or if they even can do this but I just sent GXV an email inquiring about a custom door.

Hey, I think this EPC/WIS off eBay should work Latest 2019 Mercedes/SMART WIS ASRA & EPC Dealer Service Repair Workshop Manual | eBay . You need to install on a laptop. This is what I used. You can print out sections if needed. Pretty sure this is what the dealer uses. For me it was a bit odd...

Composite Door Jamb Material (Now Custom Entry Door)

Hi all, I am considering building a new composite door to replace our current one. If I could find a supplier of some composite door jamb material it would make things way easier. Anyone know a supplier? I want composite to minimize thermal bridging. I would hope to get a composite panel from...

Hey all, we are now on the Kenai peninsula and continue to be having a great time. So far our weather has been pretty nice and the bugs not too bad. Been doing a mix of hiking, biking and a little bit of rafting. Also have met up with some other overlanders (Tucks Truck , a very nice Unicat and...

For the tension nut I am able to get it from the passenger side by coming in with a long open end wrench from behind the belt on the top. Only get a little movement for each turn but it goes quickly once you get the feel.

We had something similar on our truck when we got it. Ours was still bolted to the block though. Ours looked like some sort of air actuator. We also have a couple of extra temp sensors that go nowhere. Maybe they all were attached at one point to the rear fire pump to monitor/shutdown the engine...

For ease of installation I installed my EGT sensor in the turbo dump pipe. It will read a bit lower than if it was installed in the exhaust manifold but it works well. There is a flat spot on the forward side on the dump pipe, just drilled and tapped it. Since I upgraded the turbo I also...
