Can't have too many Dormobiles on hand!

    Overland Expo West 2015

No, sorry. We need to consider the others already there. It's a closely spaced camp area. There is plenty of dispersed or forest service camping within just a few miles.

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

In comparison to the money and lobbying power of oil corporations, mining corporations, logging corporations, etc.? Yes, I think the environmental movement is poorly funded!

An advance look at the Crux Offroad bridging ladder is here.

Where to buy sand ladders aluminum

Look for a new bridging ladder to be debuted at the Overland Expo, from Crux Offroad. I'll have a preview on Overland Tech and Travel soon. It shows great promise and costs far less than the (excellent) Mantec.

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

I always laugh when I read about how the well-funded radical environmentalists are advancing their agenda against the poor mining, logging, and grazing interests.

    Overland Expo West 2015

The campgrounds almost all have good shade IIRC. Double Springs Campground is only a couple miles northwest of Mormon Lake if you can snag a spot early, and Dairy Springs Campground is a mile or so north of that. Forest Road 240 has undeveloped camping. Lots of trees.

    Overland Expo West 2015

Please keep in mind that the campground at the Expo is designed for easy access to and from the event, period! We try to make it as hospitable as possible with porta-pottis and water, and there is always a great social feel to it, but it's still a flat field in a dry lake bed. We're trying...

    12 V vacuum recommendations?

I think Brian might be thinking of the Metro Vac. I have an excellent 120V model but they have a 12VDC unit too, here.

    New Simpson GCV190 pressure washer

Expedition equipment? Well, it's excellent for cleaning expedition equipment and vehicles, and I thought I'd put it here before Craigslist. Local pickup only please. It's a Simpson GCV190 pressure washer, 3100 psi which is pro-level pressure, 2.5 GPM. It's new, never even been started; storage...

    Knife Experts - Sharpening

Eric, The advantage of the Scandi grind is that it is easy to sharpen by hand, since the broad bevel indexes consistently. The disadvantage is that you are then working on a lot of steel, so bringing back a truly dull (rather than merely folded-over) edge takes a lot more work—and more so...

    Overland Expo West 2015

Sarah, We have a raft of people on the Expo staff who live and breathe old Land Rovers, including all the ex-Camel Trophy team members. Probably enough to just pick up your Series and carry it . . . Email or PM me and we'll make sure you have contact information.

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

Range magazine was the OP's source. Wow. Have you found information that Mother Jones and RFEP, where I read it (now known as ConservAmerica) was wrong, and are not sharing it with us? But Todd, that's not what I said, is it? I said BRC was not innocent of having received tainted donations. If...

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

Del, thanks for the clarification on chronology. So, my points stand: 1. Be careful of throwing stones, as very few non-profit organizations of any type are innocent of any kind of tainted donations. 2. It might be a good thing to drop the bile, and work toward solutions that everyone can...

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

The OP referred to people such as me (past Audubon board member, founding member of Backcountry Hunter and Anglers, etc. etc.) as the 'enemy,' then claimed that large donors to environmental organizations have nefarious hidden agendas. I listed large donors to what is purportedly an organization...

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

Thanks for the response, Del. I'm sure the BRC gets plenty of individual donations, just as do the Sierra Club, Audubon, Wilderness Society, etc. However, according to my information the funding sources below have been listed in the BRC's own magazine: At least 18 timber companies, including...

Identify Your Enemies - How are Enviro/Eco Groups Funded?

And have you ever checked to see who funds the Blue Ribbon Coalition? Do you honestly think those companies care about your access to public lands? Eyes wide open means looking both ways in my opinion.

    Knife Experts - Sharpening

You can get the Edge Pro Apex (all you need) for about $230. It works just fine on a Scandi grind.

    Knife Experts - Sharpening

I have a full set of water stones and they are superb. However, the best knife sharpening kit I've used is the Edge Pro, because of the absolute repeatability of getting a precise angle on your blade. It will make your knives last ten times longer no matter how good you are at manually holding...

    School me on RTT

To answer your questions: 1. They are difficult to move. Even the Autohome carbon-fiber model is over 80 pounds; most are 120 or more, especially since, if the two of you total 500 pounds, you'll want one of the large folding models, not a clamshell type. 2. While there's no chance of them...
