Two blocks from home. I've experienced that exact same scenario. Somebodie's looking out for us. May I be so bold as to suggest a new blade for the sawzall.:wings:

    Celica Expo rig, first trip

Go for it! Great Celica. Love your attitude. I wanted to do it to a '91 Honda 4wd Civic Wagovan but was talked out of it. Here it is 15 years later and I still regret it! That regret was turned into a lot of "stick to your guns" when I got the idea to modify an Astro van. Cool, unique...

    Question

I can see the widom in this move. I currently have a 450, (and dream of the GasGas Desert 450 and 515). http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Gas%20Gas/gas_gas_fsr_515_desert.htm While I do have an affinity for big performance bikes ( I still miss my CBX) if i were to get a 2nd bike now it...

    Bad Parenting

Short Version I once caught a 22 yr old guy as he was robbing my shop. He was already putting my Rip Curl Tidemaster watch on as I suprised him. I chased him out the front door and tackled him in the street and dragged his raggedy *** back in while my girlfriend called the police. We raiseda...

    My ultimate camper combo - HZJ79 + Tischer 230

That seems like a lot of space for the given footprint. I like the fold down sink and all the headroom in the bunk. Christian, would that unit have served you well on the Africa journey or would it have been too big for (tall?) for certain parts. Could you expound a little on what leads you...

    Buell Ulysses?

FWIW, an acquiantance of mine loves his. He rides local commutes as well as long camping trips. He talks about it being great on the mountain twisites. He is tall and it fits him well. Sorry i can't be more specific, but I will tell you that the guy is generally very analytical and critical.

    Need to get active-er.

suprised nobody has mentioned BFL I'm in a similar situation. 5'11", 230#. I'm still active, but getting worse and worse at everything and it makes me want to quit doing the activities. My mountain bike rides suck. Legs burn, can't breathe, can't climb. My enduro rides are great but i go...

Lifting: what is your current program?

As the years go on, mountain biking hasn't been enough to keep me fit. I built the van to help get the mountain bikes and kayaks out, but ended up going on long weekend trips all the time...and that doesn't help the fitness level. With a heart rate monitor hooked up, I know that I've burned...

Quigley 4x4 RV Four Winds 21rb

Everything is indeed a compromise. You've chosen and modified an awesome rig for your purposes. Oh, I forgot to mention that my friend bought the KLR used with aluminum boxes, like new for $3500. They are an unbeatable value, new or used. Cheers.

    Our "new" Tiger...

My friend had a stock 3/4 ton white 4x4 '80's Suburban. We dubbed it simply The Great White. But it's shape was a little more "sharky" than yours. Hmm. The White Tiger. Kimba was a white lion, not a tiger, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQsQqOlPjhs

Antique Land Cruiser on the road since 2003

I'm wreaking the benefits of working at home...or should I say the curse of working at home. You are either a tasty stream of adventure reading, or a communist plot to destroy productivity. Either way, I'm looking forward to many hours of good reading (although much of it may have to wait...

Quigley 4x4 RV Four Winds 21rb

That is such a great looking rig. I went FS road riding (around the gate) with a guy on a KLR just like yours. First of all, he flew thru the paved twisties on the way there. Then once we were in the dirt he flat tracks it prety well too. Very versatile bike. He's got a Ducati ST3 and a...

    Don't buy this van.....

I was afraid he was going to punch it Toyota style and jetski through the windshield or something. It would really have been funny (or tragic) if he had a pop top and needed to open it to get above the rising water line.
