Been following this thread for years. Thanks for all your effort and ideas. Got my Tundra about 9 months ago (in large part because of inspiration from you and Desert Dawg) and have been super pleased ever since.
Back in your first post on this thread, you show a picture of a 12 volt...
The cool factor of an off-road trailer with RTT is very appealing.
We've had two travel trailers and a toy hauler. The wife and I have 3 sons that are getting big (17,15 and 11). While we were in between trailers, I convinced her to try a RTT. It just so happens that Tepui rents them out on a...
After using it this weekend in our SUV, I have pleased with it. It stayed at 34° inside the vehicle overnight and then all day on Saturday without running the motor. I didn't measure the voltage draw, but can qualitatively say that it is efficient.
Just wanted to share what I thought was a good deal (no affiliation other than a customer).
Truckfridge.com is having a sale on their fridge/freezers. If you check out their Facebook page they have a coupon code that takes 25% off their web price and gives free shipping until the end of July...
Tepui along the California Coast
Didn't know if a roof top tent would work for my family (me, wife and 3 boys) so we decided to rent the Tepui Adventure Trailer with the Ruggedized Kukenam XL on it. Picked the trailer up near Santa Cruz and then headed down Hwy 1 to Morro Bay. Great drive and...
I watched the episode today. I was glad to see that they weren't building another rock crawler but something better suited for what goes on here. I'll be tuning in to see how they tie the finished Grand Cherokee to the trailer.
I think you represented the community well (not to mention that...
An update regarding something I hadn't planned on using my DX with BCN...I took my wife for a cruise this past week and used BCN (cached the MyTopo.com maps for Catalina Island and the OpenMaps.org for Ensenada, Mexico). It worked great.
I have a DX and have had 'issues' with airplane mode. Most people say airplane mode will not affect GPS, but it seems to with the DX. The only trip where I've tried to save battery power by using airplane mode caused a surprise when I couldn't get GPS reception (which I had before I changed...
I have a Garmin 60Csx, eTrex Vista and a really old GPS12 that I use with a laptop just for the GPS signal. I also have an Garmin 340c for in-car navigation. Sadly, for them, they all sit in the closet gathering dust. I do, however, use the 60 to teach my boys how to use a GPS when we're...
I'm sure a lot of you know this already but the new version of Google Maps for Android (5.7) allows for caching of maps and other data within 10 miles (box, not radius) of a clicked on point. You can store multiple areas and GM will remove the maps after 30 days. Just go to the Google Labs...
I went for the 7 LED Energizer. I got it off of Amazon for under $20. Great so far, but I've only had it one season.
The wife washed it after one trip. I thought it was gone for sure. I took the batteries out and let it dry for a couple of days. No problems.
'Best' depends on what you're going to be doing.
For all around use, I hear great things about BackCountry Navigator and they have a 16 day free trial. The app costs $9.99. I'm headed out for a camping trip in 18 days so I'll be downloading it to try it out in a couple of days. You can...
I've got those same tires but in a Load Range E for my 3/4 ton Duramax. I thought long and hard deciding between Geolanders, Terragrappler and the BFG AT (previous tire). I didn't think the BFG had any road noise until I got the Geolander on.
I tow about 10000lb toyhauler and do very light...
