The 5k was pushing a lot of heat at its lowest setting, fine to warm up but it would build up fast if it’s 20 or 30 F out I think. I have insulated floor and ceiling so my heat retention should be ok. I’m hoping I can run the 2k a bit more in its sweet spot where it’s supposedly not building...
I think the moisture absorbents are great for storage and long term moisture control, but for living use, the formula is dry heat + fresh air in + ventilation of moist air out. Once I have the diesel heater which is strictly dry heat I can test the fresh air/ventilation piece to determine if...
My cabin space is 6.5' long x 5' wide x 4' tall. I think 2kw will suffice and I do not plan on shutting off the heater until the morning, so it should not be cycling on/off at all. I will use a combination of exhaust vent and windows to control temp if things get too warm in there.
One more tip video for tonight; this one on how to quiet that fuel pump. I will find a neat way of suspending the pump in my setup to minimize the sound.
From what I have seen it looks like a full disassembly to inspect it. I have a feeling I will be doing an annual maintenance on mine since it will likely see 20 nights of 10hr use. I would imagine that is probably overkill but once I get my 2kw tested and happy I will pull this one apart to...
10+ hour test complete. The fuel level looked the same as 8 hour. I ran it at full blast for 5 mins to burn off any build up from running it low and then let it shut down.
Total power consumed from the battery was 9Ah. This is a success and definitely getting permanently installed however I...
8 hour test update:
Fuel consumption is still minimal. 7ah used from the battery. I am going to run it for 10 hours then shut it down and see what connectors I am working for a heating unit swap (I want to keep my controller)
I would imagine I could run 7 nights on this tank.
Very curious to see if your heater is actually 3k cause mine was supposedly 2k-5k but the heater unit is labeled 5k under the case. Either way it won’t matter as these don’t shut off and it can be run pretty low, although I have a feeling it may still be too much inside the cabin of my camper...
No trouble at all, happy to help! The unit is 6” wide, 16.5” front to back measuring from the outside of the little metal feet panels, and it is 18” tall to the top of the handles the way I have it set up allowing room underneath for the exhaust and air intake pipes. Let me know if you want to...
Odd, getting 12.2v at the power terminals on this little temp control and the led indicating power output turns on when the threshold is tripped but I get no power at the outputs...faulty unit maybe?
Well the china heater is here and its a ************** little heater. It pumps a lot of heat and will warm up the cabin quite fast. Hopefully I can set it so it doesn't run too often but it is definitely pretty sweet and not too loud once its up to speed. I need to do a fuel efficiency test tomorrow...
@luthj I was wrong there may actually be a way to install the heater cleanly in the rear galley on the passenger side opposite the battery bank. Assuming I can find the perfect fuel tank. I would need to gut the case and scavenge the internals but if this thing works well in its portable state...
12 buck Buck ordered! Made of money I reckon at this point hahahaaaaaa...this thing better work! At least it looks like I sorta planned it.

Not sure what happened to yesterdays posting of this but I'll try again. I got the immersion heater put together and I just need to get a bit of marine heat shrink on there and I should be good to test as soon as I have some sunlight. I will most likely make the temp probe cable longer so it...
In this rig it is not possible without making it look hideous. I will definitely have this idea in mind for the next build to integrate it cleanly and with easy access to the components for troubleshooting and maintenance. I am going to make a nice base for this thing with some non-slip feet...
I seem to only be able to find 2kw-5kw all in one units, I will have to look into how to keep it at 2kw

Back to considering one of these units: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5KW-12V-Diesel-Air-Heater-All-In-One-Portable-Motorhome-Knob-Switch-Heating/123848504824
Seems simple enough...
Heating that high above ambient is a challenge at this time due to no permanent heat source. My options are limited with what I can use for heat in this rig, especially dry heat. What you are saying makes perfect sense though, if I can figure out a way to get and keep the heat up above ambient...
